Muddy why do you insist on keeping USD accounts?
Alot of the offshore books only deal in USD.

Some books make it difficult to switch currencies. (Pinny will allow you to change currency once, then will tell you to fuck off if you ask again)

Centrebet , Sportsalive & Ladbrokes let me switch whenever I ask but will only let you have one active account.

My Centrebet and Ladbroke accounts are in CAD.

5dimes, Matchbook... and? Very few of them actually force you into using USD.
Carib, BetOnline, Legendz, BetJam, BetPop, BetGuardian, DCSC, Betmaker, BetPhoenix, BetMania, Heritage, Justbet, YouWager etc are USD only.

While Bookmaker & DSI claim to have CAD accounts the actually process transactions in USD.

Even Pinny processes deposits in Euros for credit card transactions on Canadian Dollar accounts.

Muddy why do you insist on keeping USD accounts?

There was a reason why I went that way in the beginning. Without getting into all that, the reason I stick with USD accounts now is simply because I am not psychic.

If I switch, there is a completely reasonable chance the direction of movement will change and I will lose even more money. For decades, the US dollar was stronger than the Canadian. Maybe there is a natural reason for that. Maybe forces of nature will push things that way again. I have no way of knowing.

Plus I lose money immediately on the currency conversion in some cases. So the gamble that I know what will happen costs me big dollars up front.

I have no way of knowing what the dollar is going to do any more than I know for sure what will happen with today's Blue Jays game.

Certainly there are many people on forums who will give me their lock predictions for both the dollar and the Blue Jays. If they end up being right I will probably keep hearing about it; if they are wrong, they will go silent. Over the years I have settled on a policy of not acting on what gets said on forums. I believe that has saved me a lot of money.

That doesn't just apply to forums. At any given time you can find leading economists predicting exact opposite things on any number of economic futures.

How do I know who to believe? I don't. My hindsight is as 20-20 as anyone's but I don't know what is going to happen.

Fair enough Muddy. I trusted a fren of mine a couple years ago when he advised to pull out all my USD monies and convert to EUR and CAD, but I s'pose he coulda easily gotten lucky.

He still says to avoid the USD for the foreseeable future.

:dunno:

what about the canadian cost of goods?

even with the us? i know toronto is pricey, but your neighborhood, plommer?

Where I am its expensive - food here costs alot more than Toronto, used cars and trucks here also cost more - gas here is cheaper though.

Real estate is just silly here - population is about 10,000 and there is a huge shortage of rental property - new homes/condos going up daily due to the booming economy. I'd say the jobs here pay alot better than most places in the US and Canada, it's mostly oilfield work and that has traditionally paid well.

Truck drivers here earn $80-$120K no problem. Lots of people have money and demand for goods is high so prices on used vehicles don't go down as rapidly as in a large market with lots of buyers/sellers.

No comparison between US & Canada, US is far cheaper for almost everything (except big cities like NY) and Toronto is not expensive (compared to Saskatchewan) if you know what you're doing.
