Yeah, it may look that way but for locals it's not difficult to find deals.

I was a regular at a Chinese mall where you could get a full course lunch for $5.50 - and it was authentic, not the fast food "Chinese food" either.

Rent is cheaper in Toronto than Estevan. A 2bedroom TRAILER rents for $1400 a month here.
I know lots of places where I could rent a 2 bedroom apt for $750 - $900 a month in Toronto, nice places too - just not downtown.

Aussie dollar hit a record high of $1.10 USD today. Our rising dollar here was fun at first when I went crazy online shopping. But then it dawned on me that every penny of my income other than gambling money is paid to me in USD.
