HAPPY EASTER TO ALL! OK, down to business. Jello, liking Beckett and the Sox tonight at -115? Is it a go? You are our bases man here! Oh, and thanks for the winner yesterday with the GLPOTD! :bat:

Mr Monkey, I'm not going to be handicapping baseball for at least a week or so. And when I post plays they will predominately be totals, and of those almost exclusively unders. That's where I found success last year and I'll try it again this season. I will probably start a thread in the next couple weeks and track it throughout the season (time permitting) with only one or two plays a day.

mister monkey we need an EMERGENCY Bread and Robyn Alert. They were going to that dangerous club/sex dungeon called the Castle and haven't been heard from. mister monkey i'm worried.

Bread usually gets up late I think on Sundays? That or he's at a baptist church singing with his peeps! Robyn's the only one I'm really worried about! If something happened to him she would have guys lining up at the door with Easter flowers in hand!

My original stance was, let women get boob jobs if they want. MF original stance was, boob jobs are lame.

I never condoned people getting extreme makeovers and becoming unrecognizable.

Self esteem is an issue in your brain, not your breasts. How many women continue with other surgeries because their "boob job" or other surgery didn't fix their heads? I'll give you a hint. It's 40%. How many of the others still have self esteem issues? I'm gonna guess it's at least a few more.

I think I agree with you. Like I said above, the boob job can actually be a good thing if it is to correct a perceived or actual defect. As much as it may be wrong, truly flat-chested women have inherent disadvantages in life than girls with at least adequate bosoms. That's as much men's fault as it is women's, if not more. The problem for most of us normal-minded people is when you take something that can be justified as a medically beneficial procedure (like the examples of my family - truly psychologically/societally beneficial - and women who need reductions) and stretch it to the extreme limits that these dipshits who want balloons on their chest take it to.

I'm not a big fan of plastic surgery either. I think having your face cut open is disgusting and kind of sad. I think liposuction is kind of an easy way out. If you really want to be thinner, exercise and eat right. I don't enjoy exercise, but I do it because I want to be in shape and look good.

The boob job is a little different, imo because it is so directly linked to self-esteem and confidence. I say this as someone who's mother and two sisters all had them done. None of them have anything more than a C cup. They all had misquito bites naturally though, and my parents paid for both my sisters to have this done at like 16 or 17 years old. You would never guess they'd had the procedure, because their chests are in perfect proportion with their bodies now. There's the other side of that equation for girls who have way too much and need a reduction for health and comfort concerns.

Sorry. I just can't help but think that your mother passed on her own insecurities to your sisters. Of course, teenagers don't feel comfortable with themselves yet. Who did at that age? I just don't think it solves anything. It's patchwork.

Don't we all pass on our insecurities to future generations?

The fact is, they all felt they would have a more fulfilling life (in however small a way) if they didn't constantly have that insecurity plaguing them in the back of their mind. My older sister had the surgery about 25 years ago and has never had any other cosmetic procedure as far as I know. None of them have. None of them regrets the decision in any way and they are all very well adjusted and happy women living fulfilling lives. We should all be so lucky to have such insecurities.

Yes. Of course, insecurities are passed on. However, do you think that was their only insecurity? Do you think that without the surgeries that they wouldn't have had fulfilling lives? Do you think that perhaps if your mother had a chance to conquer her own insecurity internally, she wouldn't have passed them onto your sisters? American culture has become all about shortcuts. People give in to societal pressures, allow themselves to be manipulated, and don't stand up for themselves. And I think this is perfect a case of that. It just continues to snowball.

I'm sure they would have had fulfilling lives without augmentation. But the decision was made that they would feel more confident, less self-conscious and generally better about their appearance if they had the chance to go through adulthood with normal sized breasts. Sure it's a societal issue and not the least bit caused by the way men look at women. I'm not saying there isn't an issue there that could be corrected without surgery. But even if you could cure a woman's insecurities (yeah...right) you still have to change the way an entire society of people view woman from a physical perspective. Breasts are very important in that regard, and it affects how women are treated on subliminal (and not so subliminal) levels throughout their lives. I think in cases like this with intelligent people making decisions based on the right reasons (as opposed to just wanting big tits to wow people with) that a breast implants can be a good thing for a woman or even young lady.

I guess that's where we differ. I don't particularly buy into the idea that breast size is going to be much of a factor in anything if you can find it in you to take what you're given and go with it. I've never said, "That girl would be hot if she had bigger tits."
