That's fucking hilarious. The Cubs have been gone for 10 years and the fans still pack the place. Cubs will always have fans. It's a tradition. The thing to do in ChiTown.

they are not packing thr place. Brokers and season ticket holders bought up all the tickets to scalp. after make people lost their asses on these in '10, many of the real fans were turned off. They can't sell out the bleachers on $3 Budweiser nights. Actually many people went there to see the park, drink in the bleachers, whatever. Those were not cubs fans.

cubs fans are starting to revolt actually

I fear 2012 could be a very bad year for them

I have revolted when I found out ownership were holding tickets back and scalping them thru a ticket broker business they started up. Fuck em. The owner is about as smart as 5 Star Bomb. He still believes they can contend when everyone is healthy.

Don't try to trick me with FACTS, pal. I'm onto your game.

yeah true

but I don't blame the tribune

because if Hendry had picked the right players...... they might have won though

They were 4 outs away.

Archie - if your boss told you to do something (even if you know it's wrong), you do it. Cubs outbid teams for Soriano by $40 million AND two years. His contract runs out after 2014. Management ordered Hendry to get him no matter the cost. The new owners are paying the price. The Ricketts family must like Hendry's work though. I can't agree with that assessment.

wait why are you giving Hendry credit for being FIVE outs away..... in 2003 he basically inherited that team and year by year made them further and further from competitive

well I'm not sure

but I think hendry was responsible for fleecing the pirates that year in a few trades...... but that was Dave Littlefield.... I was traded him a used buttplug for his new car

but seriously Hendry didn't build that roster outside of Aram and Loften for a few weeks..... he deconstructed it over the years and paid more for it...

I really don't think you'll see a firesale by the Pirates this year. They aren't loaded up on payroll. There is no sense in getting rid of McCutchen when he's making $450k/year.

I think Maholm could be a great reliever for a contender, but I doubt you'll see him starting for a team that's in a race at the end of the season.

no one said fire sale

they are far gone from fire sale

in fact they haven't had fire sales for years

they've been pretty smart with their trades... they know when to unload

but its not yet their year to really contend

they have too much talent coming up from AAA and AA and even the lower A minors in the next 2-3 years

if I'm the GM I sell anything that I don't have under contract for the next 3 years.... such as McCutch as previously stated

but I get anything I can for the fodder they have now, that is not going to be with them in 2013 when the make a run for the WS.

ask anyone that knows ANYTHING about baseball and they'll tell you A. McCutch is one of the top untouchable talents in all of baseball
