I'm here. Alone as usual it seems on GL.

But I had a mini celebration today because...

I'M OFFICIALLY A PERMANENT RESIDENT OF AUSTRALIA AS OF THIS MORNING!!!!!!!!!! Woohoooooooooooooo!!!!!

Which means I can leave this fokken country legally now. After 2 years of this shit.

Might have a glass of Champagne to celebrate properly in 6.5 hrs when my SBR shift is over.
:dancer:

Durito!!!!

I feel almost manic right now. I have this big grin on my face and have the urge to go for a run but can't because I have to work at SBR in 30 minutes.

I'm almost embarrassed that these bureaucratic assholes can have this much of an effect on my mood.

Are you going to become a citizen of Colombia now that you're married? Are you still planning to move back to the States this year?

you have to work at sbr at specific times? i guess that makes sense, for some reason i always thought moderators just worked whenever they wanted, I guess that doesnt make any sense at least outside my world.

You can become a Colombian citizen after 5 years of residence, Im not sure what type of residence that applies too. Getting married doesnt change anything since I already got a permanent residency as a father of a Colombian. As far as I can tell becoming a citizen is a shit load of work with no benefits whatsoever so I think I will pass. Ive convinced everyone that we will be moving to the USA in the next year. Now I just have to convince myself.

oksana

move to usa

I was debating that but I'm not ready to go back yet.

Kind of feels like my adventures would be over if I end up in the States or Canada.

Going to try CR first and if that doesn't pan out, then it'll be either Montreal or probably somewhere in the southern US.

Maybe Arizona as we already have a place to live and I'm still somewhat familiar with Tucson.

Great news Oksana! You may need to adapt to the change in time zones with your wagering. You are going to have a whole new world though opened up with gambling being on this Continent .

Get out there and run and celebrate , why you run, who knows. Just run.

Like that quote from Anchorman about ,jogging yogging, it sounds Scandinavian

"Brian Fantana: So the team pancake breakfast is tomorrow morning at nine, instead of eight.

Ron Burgundy: Oops... I almost forgot. I won't be able to make it fellas. Veronica and I trying this new fad called uh, jogging. I believe it's jogging or yogging. it might be a soft j. I'm not sure but apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild

I recommend south GA.
Hi OKI ;)

Yeah I work Sun-Thurs 3am-9am EST. For me it's great because that's actually Mon-Fri 5pm-11pm here which is when I'd normally be online anyway. If I'm around the forum and I'm not working then I still moderate to a certain extent but I'm not actively doing it, more just responding to PMs and reacting if I happen to see something.

So I guess Colombia's like CR where if you have a child who's a citizen you automatically are granted a PR. Logically I think that's how it should be but it seems some of the whitey countries assume people come in and either pop out a child or knock someone up just to get the PR, so they don't grant you it unless your partner will sponsor you. Even though I've officially been here for 6 years, I had to apply for a visa although I knew it was going to be rejected since I didn't fall under any category, then go to a tribunal, and finally the tribunal sent my case to the Minister of Immigration to intervene. That was in November and he finally came back and granted me the PR. He's literally the only person who can make the decision to grant a PR under an intervention - doesn't even have a bloody team to handle this stuff - so I've just been waiting until he decided to get around to me.

The shitty thing is that if I were hard up for cash I'd be screwed because during those 2 years I wasn't allowed to work for an Aussie company, receive parenting payments (which are about $2500 a month I think), have access to medical care, nothing. And I wasn't allowed to legally leave the country with my son unless his father gave me permission - which he said he wouldn't do until I had my PR. So I've been stuck here. Probably the main reason I now refer to this place as a shithole.

And yeah, I can see your point about citizenship. Other than having the right to vote here in Australia, it really wouldn't make much difference in my life either. Just another passport to add to the collection I guess.

It's a big step moving back to the States. I can see why you're a bit hesitant. Does Mrs D want to make the move?

congrats!

Thanks Archie but it's already gone to shit go figure.

I think his dad thought this PR thing would drag on for ages and I'd finally give up on leaving.

Tonight he said he won't give parental consent which means tomorrow I have to file court paperwork to get us out of here without him giving permission.

What an absolute fucking piece of shit damn mess.
