No disrespect monkey but I fail to see how shaving ones balls has anything to do with mindlessly buying an $800 purse simply for the brand alone. You will never see me driving a Lexus, wearing designer clothing or standing in line for the latest gadget...but you god damn better believe that I shave my pussy. Why? Because it feels nice. Not because Gillette wants to sell more razors. High five!

Maybe it's because you subconsciously want to remain prepubescent, child-like.:dunno:

Maybe not you personally, but I see an ever increasing prevalence of infantile tendencies in our culture.

Where's Freud when you need him?

It's all part of social acceptance. You need to look no further than French and German female underarms. It's aesthetics. Pure and simple. Please don't insult my intelligence and tell me that you conjured it up one day because it feels better and you certainly can't say that about some dude shaving his balls and/or ass. That's just absurd.

I don't understand why personal preference should even lead to an argument. Daft, whatever did you do to upset monkeyfucker so? Was it all over that fake boob conversation months ago?

Some people think insects are gross. Some people think they are appetizing. It's all about perception.

And also, not to incite you further, but you kind of just agreed with me. Some people think insects and hair are gross, some people think they are appetizing.

I'm talking about macro terms (i.e. cultures) such as Thailand. The perceptions are socially determined. I really don't think you see too many Americans eating insects.

I mean, the discussion kind of ends here right?

I don't think the iPhone really dooms MFer in this argument since it has quite a few proprietary elements that he might require/desire.

However, I'm pretty sure if we dissected his possessions and behaviors we'd find dozens of better examples of MFer conforming to societal norms, which I think would make some of his statements in this thread more than a little over-the-top.

MF & Reno,

Shouldn't we all be sporting our biblical beards? Many cultures still grow them proudly. When did it all change? When did we become persuaded by social acceptance? When did we become the very epitome of consumerism and the mark of corporate capitalism. Sickening.

The trend of face-shaving probably began once girly-men like me started popping up, who couldn't grow a full beard in a lifetime.

MF'r will have some Jedi mindfuck reasoning for why he indulges in any of the trappings of this disgusting corporate world that we live in.

I don't think either one of us is saying to avoid social norms at all costs. Obviously, that's not even possible.

What is important however, is to understand where these things come from. Then you can make a more enlightened decision as to what to do.
