There are some intelligent people here, far more intelligent than I am yet so many of you fall into the same trap. You align yourselves or at least appear to at least, with such party lines. You pick and choose what your party or representative does right and ignore so much of what's still wrong. You pick and choose what fits your agenda of what is wrong with the other party and refuse to acknowledge what might not be so bad.

Until we drop these party affiliates and realize that the truth and the right lies somewhere in the middle we will continue to deteriorate as a nation.
 
It will be interesting to see how the Congressmen/women behave now. They have clearly been given a mandate by the American people to work together and get Congress moving.

You know it will be just as deadlocked. Americans are going to be jealous of our Right Wing Conservative - Prime Minister... What a switch. We have the stiff white guy running our country...

That is not true at all, there were major differences between Obama and Romney on health care and obamacare, on the bush tax cuts for people making over 250,000 a year and deficit spending,illegal immigration, Iraq,Iran and foreign policy, Abortion, cap and trade legislation on global warming and the keystone xl pipeline. The next president could appoint anywhere from 1-3 justices for the supreme court, these are not minor disagreements on irrelevant issues.

Romney was alot more agressive on Iran, especially after his trip to Israel. I am really not sure what you are saying though, you said that these "were just two characters pushing the same agenda, pretending to have minor disagreements on irrelevant issues" to fool the public. If you are talking about Iran and foreign policy now, there were major differences on foreign policy between Romney and Obama, not to mention all of the other issues like health care, the bush tax cuts, abortion, global warming, the appointing of the supreme court justices etc.

I remember Romney in the Republican debate talking about Iran.He said that if he were elected president , Iran would not be a nuclear power.

You want a foreign policy that works? Stay out of foreign affairs. When there is a conflict that doesn't directly involve the United States stay home. If it indirectly involves the United States then go only as support for the affiliate partner that is involved. If it involves a direct threat to the United States fok shit up and come home.

This is the shit that gets me. Seems that Obama is the one facing the heat for his handling of the economy, but it was ok to go hunt for Weapons of Mass Destruction with an unlimited Bankroll and no one seems to call anyone out for that & Republicans would have bailed out the auto industry the same as the Democrats did....
 
did you watch the debate greggy? Doesn't matter, their rhetoric doesn't translate to action anyway, it was fun to see them trying to out duel each other on who would support stronger crippling sanctions on Iran. US foreign policy has been consistently heading in the same direction regardless of which party controls the presidency. there is no difference there.

abortion etc... are none issues. Nobody's going to outlaw abortions, more bs to get people riled up.

national debt: not an issue more hype and excuse for austerity. If anybody truly cared they could easily cut military spending. They both want to funnel public funds into the private sector. business, military, prisons etc, thats not changing.

global warming, enviro problems. Niether one is taking serious action and wont. In the debate they were tripping over themselves defending the coal industry (diogge will be happy to hear), and happily proclaiming their love for drilling oil.

36% or 39%taxes for 250k+ earners: don't care and doubt others should. I have no faith that the extra $ is going anywhere good, maybe more $ for war.

At least in previous elections there was a specter of meaningful disagreement. Here there was none (aside from maybe several sentences uttered by Ron Paul)

oh yes, medicine. This is an are where there was some potential positive change at one time. I believe everybody is entitled to basic medical service. That being said I have no idea if I'm to support "Obamacare". I really have no idea if this makes access easier. I'm sure it's going to enrich insurance companies or some business. There hasn't been much explanation on who's is going to pay for the mandatory insurance for those who can't afford it? :dunno: And why do the Republicans hate it so much?

I'm a republican and this may be the first time I agreed with you on politics. As with anything political, just follow the money. I believe every US citizen should be entitled to basic health care.
 
I see what you are saying reno and watching the debates can be nauseating, I would love to see a third party in this country but I think you are wrong on there being little difference between the candidates. Romney was probably not a true hard nosed conservative and he would have backed off his campaign rhetoric but who knows, governing Massachusetts is one thing and governing the United States is another.

On foreign policy and Iran- You are right during the debates they were both lining up to kiss the israeli governmnet and the US Zionist lobbys ass when they were talking to Bob Schieffer but Romney was alot more virulent about Iran and doing what Netanyahu wants done in terms of Israel. The world is alot safer this morning with Obama at the helm.

Abortion- Romney also said he would be "delighted" to sign a bill as president that would outlaw abortion, but you are right, most republicans have lied when it comes to abortion laws. 1-3 supreme courts justices will be appointed this term and dont forget this guy "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down," This is a strange political party

Environment- Romney and Obama were worlds apart on the environment. Romney opposed all of obamas environmental measures, from the EPA requiring mandatory limits on greenhouse gases, using the california laws on requiring automobiles to raise mpg, alternative energy,etc. You also have the bonn program coming up in 2015

These are a few quotes about the candidates views on the environment

The Budget- Its like the Economist said in its endorsement of Obama " America cannot continue to tax like a small government but spend like a big one" Both parties are not really admirable but Romney wanted to start with huge tax cuts.

I dont mean to sound like I love or even really like the Obama administration , he cant continue to run these trillion dollar deficits, have 46 million Americans on food stamps, I see alot of these welfare threads on the gambling forums but they are right in a way. Alot of what Romney said was right about a sort of entitlement culture in America and its going to turn around and bite Obama in his second term if he doesnt do something about unemployment and the deficits and social spending, especially if he is raising taxes.. Obama inherited a disaster from Bush and was given alot of leeway but I think people are going to be alot more critical in this second term.

Mitt was probably not as conservative as he came across in his campaign but the notion that there isnt alot of difference in the two is way off, I remember people saying both W. and Gore or W. and Kerry were really two sides of the same coin, but look at those 8 years. I think the world is alot safer place this morning than watching the republican party during the Bush the younger administration.
