Boner, I'm not exactly sure I am following you correctly. Are you saying since it's an entry level position the fact that there was someone already with advance qualifications it should go to any person with minimal to less than minimal qualifications by default? Sounds like legal babble to me but I will counter with, if we are able to get a person with advanced qualifications for minimal qualification type money it's a bonus for us.

Don't get me wrong Boner. I agree that if you are comparing apples to apples especially something like government type jobs have a social responsibility to hedge towards diversity but they shouldn't be forced or made to feel obligated to make special exceptions.

Nope, not saying much more than what you are. I agree 99% with you. I'm just saying that if the job description, and more the need of the job, should be carefully crystalized and equally qualified candidates should be compared.

For example, if an minimal clerical job needs filling and there are two candidates: one is white and has 15 years of clerical experience and the other is black and has 3 years of clerical experience. If the job only calls for 3 years (or less) of clerical experience the two candiates should be considered even, in terms of ability to perform the advertised job, and then race COULD be considered.

Maybe this doesn't make sense (ive been drinking) but in some way I don't think that the bar for a job needs to unnessicarilly raised by the candidates. If ALL that is called for at a job is X, all people that can perform X should be considered. If someone can perform X + 1,000,000 he shouldn't necessarilly be favored over a guy who can perform X + 2 (or even just X), since all you need is X.
 
Boner I see what you are saying. We could argue the merits of how an extra qualified person gives the position extra benefits even if it is only required minimal qualifications but there is no point.

I didn't mention this earlier but the minority that is getting the job is actually a good guy. I went to school with his brother and I coached him in football even. He will probably make a fine employee but the circumstance by which he is getting the job still doesn't exactly seem altogether right.

Oksana, you will not find the Montell one because of the fire, but if your person has connection to Joan Rivers or Good Morning America they should find those. If I had a copy of the Montell one, I would post it myself. I was also on talk Soup when Greg Kinnear was the hose so if you have a chance to grab back episodes of that show, you can see a quick clip of me on that.
