Back at it today. Although I think I won't play on Monday, but that will depend on how I feel when I wake up. Going out to dinner with the kid tonight so I got to get an early start and be finished up between 4 and 5 tonight.

Joe, do you set a goal each day?

I have tried several times to set a goal to win and then leave. I also tend to set a limit to lose in order to leave as well. At the one room I have no problem reaching my limit but have only met my goal a couple of times and none in the past 15 months.

The limits are easy to obey but the goals when met are sometimes difficult to walk away from.

After class I ran over to the poker room here in Daytona. It is one of the best rooms in the sate of Florida. Plenty of tables and big roomy tables and a brand new facility (well 3 years old), just a really nice place.

I was so looking forward to playing here since my room is so cruel to my money and I can't run to Mississippi every time I wanna win at cards.

Bought into the $1-$2 table and messed around for a while paying attention to the players at my table. Never had anything of note for the longest time except pocket kings once after being at the table for 30 minutes. I raised under the gun to $10 signaling to anyone paying attention that I obviously had a hand. It mattered not as I was called by 6 of the 9 remaining players.

The flop was Spade Spade Spade and neither of my Kings was a Spade. That many hands you know someone has flopped a flush so I check and the table checks. The turn is another Spade and I check cause I am not committed to these useless Kings and the betting starts and I fold. Two of the people at the table flopped a flush and a 3rd hit the nuts with a lone Ace of Spades on the turn. So I got away cheap there.

Another 10 minutes I get involved with a guy that I have been watching and I have a good read on. I hit middle pair and I was feeling like it was the best hand. He lead out and I called. The turn doesn't improve my hand much but does give my a gunshot. He Bets and I again call. The river misses my gunshot but gives me 2 pair. I only had $20 left and he shoves on me and obviously I call. He had nothing the entire way and my read was right, only he ended up with a one card straight on the river and I am re-buying.

I could have shoved on him after the flop and he had led out but my read was he was bluffing off chips which turned out to be right at least at the time.

So any ways I bought in again and maybe 15 minutes later I have AA facing a pre-flop raise and re- raise and I shove. Both players called with 99 and AK. The AK hit a one card flush and I hit the door before the dealer had finished pushing the guy his chips.

We broke for lunch today and I went back to give it another go. Decided I would switch up my usual demeanor at the table and go with jovial. I prefer to just be quiet and wait for my bad beats.

I chatted people up we talked sports and the like and I was generally pleasant to everyone. I changed my game a little as well instead of pocket pairs and suited connectors I opened up considerably because that's what the flow of cards dictated. Turned out 6-9 off was a very good starting hand multiple times. Got back everything I lost yesterday and left to come back to class. I will go back tonight and play the Deep Stack tourney.

Well that shit didn't last long.

I went back early to play a little cash before the tourney started. The third hand AA cracked and a re-buy. It wasn't 5 hands later and I get AA again and I win a small pot with 2 of us all-in but the other guy having no chips. About 30 minutes later I have QQ and flop a set with a rainbow board with 5 of us in the hand on my raise to $17 on a $1-$2 table pre-flop. I check and a guy shoves, fold, fold, fold and obviously I call. I watch the guy flip over his hand with what looks like a very bad bluff on his part. I then watch him catch runner runner to make a straight and felt me.

I left.

I met my daily limit for losing. I know what you are saying but when I am getting run over like that it generally doesn't turn around. I have been there too many times. I know how bad I run and how long it'll last.

MonkeyFocker my unluckiness defies mathematics. I bought in twice for $200 each. I allow myself $200 per session but I won most of what I lost yesterday back today at lunch break so I went with found money.

I have a friend who is always telling me bad beat stories.

I'd say like 2% of the stories he's told me have been actual bad beats.

Seeing how you are such an expert in healthy eating, music, baseball and anything else you post about I guess your opinion of what is bad beat and what is not is final word as well.
