Wally, do you really let players at a poker table get you pissed off to the point you think about targeting them??

I believe you are a successful poker player. I honestly do. It surprises me after reading some of this though.

You should never allow ANY emotion to affect you at the poker table. You seem like a guy that can be put on tilt easily, Wally. I mean no offense by that.

As far as going on tilt I can't deny ever doing it but it isn't something I am prone to do. There have been a couple of occasions but in the past.

As for targeting, it is something I constantly have to fight with myself on. I used to be very aggressive and blatant about going after someone. Now I still take great pride in "getting" a particular player I am much more patient and wait for the right time instead of forcing it.

I can't tell anyone they should treat every player at the table equally because obviously there will be some easy marks and some tough opponents but it isn't advisable to target a player.

Averaging just over $20/hr now..... personally I think I need to get it closer to $30 to make a serious go. Still playing 1/2 and once I build the roll to 5K or so will start taking some shots at the 2/5 game. I don't want to blow all the work I"ve put in right now taking a shot. Want to do it once I have a really good idea where I am at. Right now I figure I've played almost 2k in hands and until I hit 10K in hands played won't really have a concept. I have spoken to Cobra off forum and he's all supportive.

Peace out ppls

I wouldn't expect those hourly rates to continue at $1/$2 NL unless the games are 2004 weak.

I also wouldn't recommend taking a "shot" at higher stakes until you have a 40 buyin reserve at your normal stakes. All it does is get you in over your head. Putting 10% of your bankroll into play is never a good idea, and short buying is even worse.

I am well aware of those things MF. Right now I primarily play on the weekends so it is a week game. The money I make during a weekday is less than what I pull in during the weekend. What I find surprising is today, a few guys who would normally play 2/5 or 5/10 were in our 1/2 game and they burned through a few hundred quick. It was almost like they were blowing it because the game wasn't worth it to them. I said thank you in my mind and took the money. I think I can average around $20 an hour at 1/2 at the casino closest to me, however I am monitoring everything, keeping track of things and even making notes on regular players away from the table.

You never know. Sometimes, I'll play some $1/$2 NL just to blow off steam and have a few drinks. Higher stakes games typically play a lot differently than 1/2 too. They might just be accustomed to more aggressive play.

Joe, what style is your game?

I'm basically tight/aggressive and rarely step outside my comfort zone. I will but it usually requires the right circumstances like being heads-up with another tight style player.

I'll mix it up every now and then but mostly mixed results. I need to practice more being more diverse but I need to chip up first.

It depends on the day, who is at the table, how I feel. Today some guy thought he could run over the table, me raising his initial raise shut that down quick. He was raising and playing light and I knew it, so I came over the top twice in a row once I established to the table I only play premium hands. Once was with AQ suited, the other was with 8 4 off.

You have to adjust your game to who is at the table, in a loose passive game with position I will limp with almost anything. In a loose aggressive game I will become a nit. I remember I was playing a 10/20 limit game a few years ago and was raising every hand I played. My tight buddy acted after me. One pot I raised he reraised which indicated to me to get the fok out. Which I did. however everyone remembered I was the original raiser and didn't even realize I got out of the hand. He took down a huge pot and I turned to him and said say thank you he said why.... I said your not that stupid, they thought they were playing me not you LOL

Another successful day. I am waiting for the crash and burn variance to hit. Spoke with a buddy of mine who plays poker for a living and he said he makes between 30 and 35 an hour playing 2/5. Anything over 15 an hour a 1/2 is extremely good. See what tomorrow brings.

I will play tomorrow and most likely Monday as well. I want Monday to be an early day so I don't get fokked by traffic coming home. I need to go 30 km's then I can take backroads home and off the main highway. I have been enjoying it but I am tired as fok. Really need a good night's rest. It's hard work for such an easy living....... :)
