I have a Toshiba Satellite. They are indestructible.

Unless your child gets their paws on it and destroys the screen last Monday. Guy at the computer place said "Did you run it over with your car? This is severe trauma." Cost of fixing the screen was almost the same as buying a new one so I'm the proud owner of yet anothernew Satellite.

this thread is very true Stevies... I've gone through so many macbooks and laptops in the past 2 years I no longer get upset handing over my credit card. I just expect it to happen these days :lmao:

I run my computers into the ground. I'm still using a 5 year old satellite & 8 year old desktop. I really hate wasting money on depreciating assets. Not overly impressed with the satellite though since I've had to replace the CPU fan twice. Not sure if mine is just a lemon but fan sound level is higher than other lap/netbooks i've used. It's showing quite a bit of wear as well with average use over that timespan too.
I much prefer building my own desktops. I was supposed to buy a new laptop back in january but still haven't pulled the trigger. will prob pick up cheap sandybridge once ivy drives down prices further.

oksy, go amazon.com and buy yourself a new screen for around $100 ... and put it in yourself...all you need is a screwdriver...there are tons off youtubes on how to do it in less than 5 minutes... i know because i just just replaced one myself on an older HP... the jewbag computer guy wanted 175 for the screen and 120 for 2 hours labor he said it took to fix... like i said, i bought my screen for around 100 and did it myself...took a few minutes... computer places will fuck you with no lube

aww heck...not another guy who thinks bookies take advantage of people...newsflash, not everyone loses :nope:

No, not at all, bookies are out to make the world a better place.

You mean the majority, right?

Ray common pal.

In another related story SBRForum's main purpose is to protect sports bettors from shady bookies and NOT to direct tons of losing action to their sponsor books for a piece of the action.

i had no idea you were under the impression that the blame of losing and knowing what misery will come from it should be placed on everyone besides the gambler... damn those grocery stores that make people fat and liquor stores that turn people into drunks... you make it sound like im doing some sort of injustice to the world... assbackwards train of thought pal, but good conversation, imo... i like hearing what people think about this and that

My daughters are not allowed to touch my computer. And it is within their grasp 24/7.

That sounds like a good idea! The laptop is completely fine except the screen is fucked. I could see a horizontal line maybe an inch wide when he was done with that. Is it seriously simple enough for me to do though? I'm a bit handy but no tech wiz by any stretch.

At what age did they learn to stay away from it? I've even googled strategies for dealing with this but nothing's working. He knows about the lights on the numbers and caps lock and has figured out how to use the touchpad so he just wants to keep pushing them. That + him not being totally coordinated yet = he manages to knock it over somehow. This time I'd put the Toshiba and MacBook on the 3rd shelf of a linen closet when I went for a shower while he was napping. From the little chair and broom laying near the scene of the crime, I assume he woke up and sussed out my hiding spot rather quickly and it must've slammed the floor when he poked it down. What I can't figure out is that I have a Mac Pro completely accessible to him but he has no interest and has never touched it (thank f). Only cares about laptops and my phones.

After breaking it down with +ev Mr Quincy it's clear the power supply is busted. Anus has a 1 year Warranty on it in case of a surge and I'll call it a surge even though what really happened is :cami:. I'll look forward to my i7 back in a month or two. In the meantime I will be Plomerging it out AMD style. what's fun is syncing roughly 30k work files

:yeahsure:

Steve's wow.

Even the cheapest pc will do for most people nowadays.

If you are a gamer and need something with high end graphics then you'll have to spend more but for internet/spreadsheet etc you don't need to spend that kind of dough.

My computers have been relocated away from my house. Though I suspect the broken laptop screen was not done by Emily.
