This is exactly what I was going to say.
 
Like I kinda feel like I would like to crawl into bed and cry. I have no reason. I am at a very high point of frustration at work, though I have been told that things will be better/resolved/moving in the right direction. I'm uneasy about Chris. You know that feeling when things are going well, so it's like, "how long can this really last?" and I get the feeling that our plan to see each other on Saturday is going to be canceled. I have no reason to think that, but when I do get this feeling I am right 95% of the time.

I have our departments work holiday party tomorrow. It's bowling. I Really don't want to go, but it's at 3pm-6pm so I have no way to get out of it. If I don't go it's like ditching work. I can't do that. I really am dreading it. It's like the LAST thing I want to do.

I literally am sitting here at work, with work to do and I just want to cry. I'm just frustrated.

I was supposed to have a date tonight with an okcupid guy named John but I canceled bc I'm not in the mood. I woke up in a bad mood today.

I had my end of the year personnel review and it was fine, whatever, but I think the anxiety about it made me feel like this. My boss is being like extra fucking nice to me now bc she knows we disagreed on some of my evaluation. Basically I need to be nicer and interact better with the people below me. I'm kind of a bitch (they didn't say that word) when people don't do their work or take too long to learn how to do things etc. I get frustrated easily. Anyway whatever I will work on that but in turn - people need to be more proactive and do better at their damn jobs.

SO HERE IT IS:

A) I pull my shit together and finish my work for the next hour then go home watch TV order Mexican food and call my mom
B) I call JL and go get drunk even though that means I have to be at work early tomorrow (8:30)
C) I go on my date even though I feel and look like hell
D) I finish my work in the next hour, go to a bar and drink alone
E) I just go home now and watch TV and call my mom and take some sleeping pills

Generally speaking I usually take the path of least resistance.
If it's good enough for me why shouldn't it be good enough for you?


PS: I slept until 2pm today then went and bought $15 worth of Samosas at the factory, guess what I'll be eating for the next few days?

I vote E). That's probably what I would do. Only because I wonder if going on a date with a new person would only increase your anxiety.

Not to be rude or nose, but I thought you and Chris were a couple, but then I hear you mention these other dates, so I am curious, are you in an open relationship or something?
 
I'm not voting. I would rather discuss how you deal with those "below" you.

Are you responsible for their performance? If you are and they are under performing in either case it is a reflection on you and more importantly your leadership ability/potential.

If they don't understand then you have to ask yourself if you have fully explained and more importantly taught. If the answer is yes and ample time to learn has been provided then you have to ask yourself why are they still there.

Being a bitch (your description not mine) isn't teaching. Being a bitch to your subordinates does not equate to leadership.

So have you...........

Provided ample instructions as to how to perform their duties?
Demonstrated how their duties should be done?
Dialoged with them as to how they can improve?
Detailed just how long they have to get up to speed and on task before measures will be taken?

great suggestions! really. thank you. they do not directly report to me, though I do manage some of their projects
