Football pool at the casino, pick ~83% total and you win a million. However, you can pick once a day and only your top pick per week counts. Is this possible? Just SU, no spread.

Could you elaborate? From your explanation, I'm guessing that you have to hit 83% over 17 NFL picks. Is that correct?

If so, you'd have to go 15 of 17 to surpass 83%. If you take a team with a FV ML of just -300 each week, you'd have a 5.01% chance of winning.

I'm assuming that's not really the case. That would be far too easy unless there is an entry fee of over $50,000...

Its for a whole season monkey, but you can pick once a day (if you show up every day). So you gotta pick the 16 winners each week, or 14 on bye weeks, but you can vary them since you get to pick 7 times. So if my 7 picks for week 1 went 8/16, 9/16, 10/16, 11/16, 12/16, 13/16, 14/16, the only one that counts is 14/16, and it goes that way for the season. 10k a week for the winner, 10k a week for the guy who finishes worst, then random payouts for the middle, its free

Ahh. Ok. That makes more sense.

I'd have to run a sim to even approximate the odds. But for the sake of brevity and some insight, the Coast casinos here offer a free contest called Pick the Pros. Everyone has between 3 and 5 entries each week (depending on your players card level). They usually have about 200k entries each week to pick the winner straight up in every game and about 1 or 2 on average goes undefeated. It probably sounds a lot easier than it actually is.

I'm sure 83% is possible. It's just highly improbable.
