Opinions on half sleeve tattoos on girls and how 'bout that Pujols?

Now, onto the unicorns:

I've been wanting a half sleeve tattoo for about fifteen years. Mr. X is not really giving me his opinion. He's slippery like that sometimes. I know he's not in love with tattoos, but also knows that I am and I don't think it wouldn't turn him off if I had a really well done one. I know he can appreciate excellent and beautiful work on "quirky girls". Something like this:

I think it's just the enormity of the commitment that's freaking him out a little. Maybe he'll chime in himself.

Thoughts?

I may be going to San Diego at the end of the month. The artist that I've been partial to has a shop there. I was considering possibly putting a deposit down on some artwork.
 
I hate tattoos. You talk about ones that are "really well done." The absolute best I have ever seen still look awful.

I look at those pics and they just look hideous to me.

Ok, I'm not a big tattoo fan at all. That being said, there is something about half sleeves on a girl that is very sexy. I don't think it occurred to me until I saw Stranger Than Fiction with Maggie Gyllenhaal where her character has one. So hot. Ever since then I've been really attracted to that look on a woman. There was this waitress at a local tapas bar last year that was beautiful and had a half sleeve and I swear I would have married her.

Now, I have one absolute pet peeve when it comes to tattoos on women - upper leg tattoos. Might be the most disgusting thing in the world. Frankly, I don't like tattoos on women anywhere above the belly button on her torso. (The small of the back is an exception because it's rare to find a girl without one there these days.) Conversely, I don't like tattoos on women below the crotch down to her ankle. An ankle or extreme lower leg tattoo is acceptable if tastefully done. Anything on the thigh is an absolute deal breaker. It's literally the worst thing in the world.

Half sleeves are hot on hot girls.

I'll elaborate.


If your arm is toned (as well as most of the rest of your body) and your face is not a train wreck, ink is very hot.

People who are not fit should always refrain from ink.



Therefore, with all due respect to Mr. X, post pics in bra and those cute boy shorts that chicks wear and we'll all vote on it.
 
Now see, I find that thinking backwards.

Hot girls are the ultimate natural work of art. They are the last thing you want to be staining and disfiguring.




If you look like crap, it doesn't matter so much. It is far less significant if you start monkeying with something that doesn't look particularly good to begin with.

What Daft said.

Barring some medical catastrophe I am never getting fat, or plan on having arm "waddles". But I can understand (in theory) how some people just don't think tattoos are attractive. Although personally, I really find smaller, "tasteful" tattoos way more distracting and unattractive than large ones that flow with the lines of a body.

In response to tattoos looking good when your 20 and not 40, I don't really agree. This could be true if you're a 20 year old office rat working at the DMV (or insert some other mind numbing soul sucking job/lifestyle) vs. a 40 year old. But I think in this case, for me, 20 vs. 40 doesn't apply. It's more of a style thing, not an age thing.

I obviously don't feel REALLY strongly about it, or I would have already done it. I'd really like to hear what Mr. X has to say. I think that my interest has been re energized because alot of girls in derby have tattoos and I think they (the girls and the tattoos) are really, really pretty.
