You know what's scary? Opinions. Especially when they are not directly stated as such.

This thread is old as hell, but Wally, I'm actually very much with you in being annoyed by this.

Like MF points out, you can't expect someone to throw an "in my opinion" in front of everything. If there is a topic of discussion (such as which team will win a game, or which color is better), I think it is pretty clear that you are talking about your opinion and you don't need to preface it.

But when it bothers me (and this happens alot) is when opinion is sprinkled in with fact and there is no preface. If I'm listing facts about something to make a point, I can't list my opinion as one of those facts; but people in forumville do it all the time.

Moderation in forumville is hard for me. When I'm active on a forum I tend to spend way more time than I should on it.

This isn't a problem if, say, you are gainfully employed or have your life together. I am neither.

As a result, I try to cut diversions out of my life in an effort to focus on figuring my life out. I don't ever play video games anymore, don't hang out here...

But I'm starting to realize that even if I cut fun things out, I still don't get any closer to accomplishing anything. So I'm slowly weening back in.

I probably can't even name all the regulars on the Montreal Canadiens. Sometimes I'll catch a glimpse of a jersey on the ice and be absolutely amazed that the guy still plays for us, or was apparently traded to us several weeks back.

You probably have the Kings' scouts' workout regimen pinned to your fridge door or something.
