After 2 weeks of baseball, lets take a look at where some teams stand compared to preseason projections...
Yeah, We know you're Good:
Rangers (11-2 First Place AL West) Now we all know two weeks of baseball doesn't mean too much but these guys lead the American League in Runs Scored (6.07/game) and Team ERA (2.38) The only flaw I can even attempt to find is closer J.Nathan, and they have 2 guys better than him ready to step in if things don't pan out. (A.Ogando, N.Perez) Their pitching staff is not only good but interchangeable. Their offense is probably the best in baseball and is proven. You can go ahead and buy your postseason tickets now...
Tigers (9-4 First Place AL Central) They are in the Top 5 in both Runs Scored and Team ERA. It looks like one or more of their 4 superstars (Verlander,Fielder,Cabrera,Valverde) will have to get hurt for them to fall off the top shelf. Starting pitcher M.Scherzer's inconsistency remains a concern.
You can't keep this up, can you?
Nationals (10-4 First Place NL East) For a team that isn't even scoring 4 runs a game to be in first place is pretty impressive. They can thank their Starting Pitchers (lead the National League with 2.08 SP ERA) for their early success. If they can score consistent runs, watch out!
Dodgers (10-3 First Place NL West) Matt Kemp is on another level, and with Andre Either producing behind him in a contract year, opposing pitchers are gonna have problems all year long. The back half of the rotation and the bullpen will have to play above their heads for them to stay where their at though... Unless of course, magic opens his "pockets", which is what's expected...
Orioles (8-5 First Place AL East) Where the hell did these guys come from? People like to say these guys can hit, but lets be real, it's their bullpen that has them in first place early in the year. Gotta give Buck some credit, he has these guys playing good ball. Starting pitcher J.Hammel is off to a great start...

Red Sox (4-8 Last Place AL East) I don't care if Bobby Valentine can ballroom dance, speak Japanese, or anything else... I don't care that Andrew Baily got hurt... I don't care that Crawford hasn't done anything and remains injured... This organization is crumbling right before our very eyes. Sure they will get healthy and win some games, but they wont win this division or grab a wild card spot so it's all for nothing... How do you hire Bobby Valentine?? I listened to him announce one baseball game for ESPN and knew he wasn't qualified...Sad
Angels (4-9 Last Place AL West) Pujols has yet to hit a home run, he started out slow last year too so don't worry, probably just waiting to get tested for PED's so he can get back on the good stuff... Just kidding. He will start hitting and the starters will come around. Nothing a couple 8-10 game winning streaks wont fix... Can they catch the Rangers is the question? They will probably have to settle for one of the two wild cards.
Phillies (6-7 Last Place NL East) They lead the National League in Team ERA (2.29) and they aren't even at .500. They knew for a long time that Utley and Howard were gonna miss time, not bringing in capable hitters is not acceptable. Sometimes you have to hurt some peoples feelings and bring in new guys. If this rotation misses the playoffs, someone needs to be fired.
Random Notes:
-Keep an eye on the Braves offense. If they continue to score runs (5.76/Game) the NL East is theirs to lose.
-The Rays bullpen ERA is 8.63
-The Giants have made 16 errors in 12 games
Look for "Two Innings In" some time next month...
