This is beyond stupid. They show live meaningless blowout basketball game but all the track and field is on tape delay. Tomorrow is first day of school for my kids and they want to see the 100m final but can't see it. My wife wanted to see the 100m women's final last night and there was nothing at 5 pm when the event happened and we waited and waited and she finally fell asleep and missed it.
 
I am not as in tune with these Olympics as I thought I might be.

My impression is that the main storyline goes like this: can Usain Bolt still dominate like he did in Beijing where he was so spectacular? It did not appear so in some recent events leading up to this where he appeared to have come back to the field. However there is also the question of if he has been playing possum and is going to suddenly come through with a full and dazzling effort which he has been saving up for today.

His main competition is a fellow Jamaican whose name I do not know.

My gut feeling (based on very little substantial) is that no, he has not totally been playing possum - he really has come back to the field. Still very, very good but possibly beatable.

A Michael Phelps type situation.

Serious question:

Don't any of the satellite companies (Dish etc.) offer any Canadian network channels?

I get all kinds of US TV stations on my satellite dish, NBC, ABC, & CBS stations from Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles etc including high def.

Also get Fox but can't bring myself to watch that shit.

"BBC world service" is one of Plommers favs.

I would have thought that Americans would be able to watch TV stations from other countries as well.
 
Mr. M. We believe you would enjoy Canadian network TV, they don't censor like US TV and there are far fewer commercials, far fewer.

American network stations run waaay too many commercials.




Plommer is now addicted to satellite radio, no commercials and only a tiny bit of announcer babbling between tunes.
 
I don't know if you can watch it live or not. I know that most stuff, NBC has been showing delayed in prime time. Maybe that is relaxed on weekends???

I have heard NBC respond to the (justifiable) bitching by saying that things can be watched live regardless - through streaming on the internet. Now of course critics respond, "That's fine, however a lot of us have these nice big TV's sitting in front of nice comfy chairs where we would like to be able to watch stuff like this - like the rest of the world."

Which is a very reasonable argument IMO.



My greater point being, there should be live streaming available. In the discussions I have heard, no one denies it exists; they just argue that it shouldn't be the only option.

I don't know where to find it but I think it must be somewhere.
 
If Fox Soccer can show 9 diff soccer matches on the last day of the season, then NBC can do the fucking same for the Olympics. Have multiple channels showing different sports, or have like a red button option so you can switch between sports.
 
I'm with you Mudcat. I didn't pay $2000 for the big screen TV and surround system so I can get off my throne and go up in the computer room and try to find a live stream from Turkmenistan to watch the marquee event of the Olympics live.
