How did you end up with a piano at your crib?

For the first time ever, I've been toying with the idea of getting a piano (used of course) for my place.

Now that I've begun thinking about it I've been mildly obsessed with it.

The 2 synths I have (Korg Triton/Alesis Ion) are serviceable but you can't replace that acoustic sound.

Thanks

I have had that piano since I was 8 and it has followed me many places. Actually I can figure it out exactly - there have been 7 moves. Some of them have been very difficult; this place was easy.

I always hire movers. Of course that's largely because I just hate moving. Many of the places I have lived, I could have moved the piano myself no problem.

One in particular, I'm really glad I had movers. Nightmare piano move.

I can't say much about the actual shopping-for-a-piano experience. That was done for me when, as I say, I was 8. Thanks mom. My piano is a Heintzman. It's a little over a hundred years old. I like it. It has taken some abuse and I wouldn't be surprised if there were better pianos out there but I like it.

So that's it. No profound answer - just find yourself a piano you like and move it in there man!

Spring and fall. My piano is not in a great spot so it is subject to more temperature and pressure changes than would be ideal - plus I have a fairly sensitive ear - so I get it tuned regularly.

I'm sure there are situations where a person would not have to tune their piano so often.
