EVERY SINGLE MOVIE has imdb users saying it's the worst of all time. EVERY SINGLE RATING has people whining that it's too high - and also too low. People find evidence of racism in EVERY SINGLE MOVIE. If someone is doing an accent, there will be people saying they did a terrible job EVERY SINGLE TIME.

You can set your watch by the idiotic clich-people at imdb.

Muddy, here's my consultation on you're new movie strategy, STF off imdb, watch whatever it is, then go if you like to see the rating plus negtive feedback! Muddy, most people just aren't as positive as you and I! Remember, Muddy knows best!

I do know best but I am very negative compared to imdb users as a group. Very critical and unforgiving. 93% of the time, my rating of a movie or TV show will be lower than the imdb consensus.

Imdb extremism goes to both ends of the spectrum. There are trolls but there are also a helluva lot of hysterically hyper-positive users who will argue as apologist for absolutely anything a filmmaker will put out there - and I mean anything.

Add in the endless stream of Americans trying to turn every discussion into an issue of right-wing elitism versus conservative blockheadism. Much like real life, the less they know, the stronger the opinion.

A truly terrible forum, imdb.

I have heard an explanation of how the overall imdb rating is arrived at and the process seems designed to exclude bots or just extremist idiots. I can't remember all the details but only people who have been supplying ratings for a certain length of time, and supply a certain minimum number of ratings, and they are not an unusual number of 1's and/or 10's actually count towards the official number.

Even then, only random people are selected. They try pretty hard to weed out manipulation.

So I read at some point.

Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) - Could be my least favorite Coen brothers movie. I'd like to hear them speak about what they were shooting for with that. More-or-less straight art film I guess.

It's not actually bad; it had a few bits which I found really effective (although depressing); I liked some of the music (although I did not immediately rush to download the soundtrack as some people did. I don't see that download in my immediate future.)

It was okay. I'll probably check it out again in a couple years and see how I feel then.

6 out of 10

I was hoping this would have more in common with Crazyheart.

Not even close. 6.2 fat.

I have to admit, I've been thinking about it a fair bit since viewing it. There are plenty of films which are basically forgotten as soon as the end credits roll. It's not that.

As I said before, I think I need to let some time pass and then have another look. Usually that will just reinforces what I originally thought but occasionally I have a radical change of heart. A recent example of the non-Coen variety would be The Artist.

It's got me wondering what my least favorite Coen Brothers movie is. I guess The Ladykillers??? I've only seen that once and would like to check it again to solidify an opinion.

I'm not gaga over Blood Simple. I barely remember True Grit.
