too lazy to read all this. but the reason i didnt buy the ipad yet is that it doesn't have any office tools on it like word of excel. Basically its jus an extra large iphone.

I'd go with macbook air. you don't need all the capabilities of the mac book pro.

durito may know more off the top of his head but if I'm not mistaken, the app Pages gives you Word capabilities on the iPad

I thought a notebook was just a small laptop.
I got an Acer laptop. we go top of the line here, spending big bucks

played around w/ my brothers Ipad his work gave him. seemed cool but I wouldnt spend that much coin for one.
if someone gave me one I'd use it though

P.S. Acer laptop--battery is bad after a yr, USB ports broke
you get what you pay for...$289.00
