Las Vegas Touts

I see a lot of the touts selling picks are based out of Las Vegas. MF, how are these people perceived there? Are they looked at like part of the business or looked down upon?

Depends who you ask. The casinos don't seem to mind them.

The pro gamblers, the poker players?

That depends as well. Some of the poker players are horrific sports bettors. Actually, most of them are. From my standpoint, touts are scumbags. They lead the sheep to slaughter. However, that's not entirely bad. They keep the industry afloat. If there were only professionals betting at the window, the sportsbooks wouldn't exist. It's a bit of a love-hate relationship.

I think the reason that so many of them are based here is that it legitimizes them somehow. If you were looking for a tout, would you think a big time player would be in Vegas or Boise, Idaho? Most of them probably came here to try their hand at betting professionally, failed, and started touting.

Yeah, I get ya. Some of them claim they are "licensed".
