Just watched first episode of "Horseplayers" on Esquire Network

I liked it.

Some of these guys are a little long in the tooth and have a barreled in texture to their face but I'll definitely tune in for the 2nd episode.


Anyone watched this show yet?

They are obviously trying to capitalize on the success of the HBO show that was cancelled due to concerns about the safety of the equine athletes.

Plommer will always be a horseplayer first - sports bettor second.

I didn't want to watch it right away so I figured I'd download it and watch it later.

Plus streaming can be flaky, downloading the whole shebang avoids any of those issues.

Found it mildly entertaining. Hard to sympathize with the characters. So far seems to be focusing on the least interesting type of bettors imo. Although the guy with the big reading glass(?) is amusing.
There is some implication that the next episode will explore deeper themes.
