I did think about them, trying desperately to come up with something around here that I could contrive.

I had a cowboy hat for years ---> chucked it during The Chucking.

I actually had Groucho Glasses which would have been damn near perfect ---> chucked.

All that's left is those teeth. But they are not like some costume vampire teeth that are made to wear. They are a big cast. I don't know what to do. Glue them to my shoulder and say that I'm, what, the tortured ghost of a Dental Hygienist?

Send them in without you. They can be a ghost with dentures.
 
Haha - maybe when they get to know me better I can start delving into conceptual shit like that, letting my true demented nature shine through.


It really does illustrate what a mission I was on during The Chucking that I would actually chuck my Groucho Glasses. Few people are as serious as me about Groucho Glasses.

Gone.

Time of fucking mercilessness, it was.
 
And the biggest news of all: I won 311 jelly beans. On top of all the above mentioned stuff, there was a guess-how-many-jelly-beans-in-the-water-bottle contest.

I guessed 303. I was closest so I got the jelly beans.

That would be several years of typical jelly bean consumption for me. After I won, I set the jelly beans out and said everyone help yourself.

Using my previously unrecognized jelly bean estimating skills, I would say 6 of the jelly beans got eaten.
 
It is an interesting work situation. Unlike my previous job where I had so little in common with the co-workers it felt like I was from outer space, this group is right on the money. We got references flying around about South Park and Breaking Bad and all the acceptable pop culture stuff - and it seems like all the guys in my immediate vicinity participate. The talk about movies has been noticeably non-blockbuster. The one guy dressed up for Halloween as the kid from Moonrise Kingdom - and it seemed like most people got it.

The one guy from the office dressed up as Kirk Van Houton. He had a cassette tape with his name on it and sang Can I Borrow a Feeling. Had a few other Kirk quotes at the ready.

The atmosphere seems really good as far as all that goes.



Except perhaps for Mohammed. There was a guy named Mohammed who started the same day as me. I seriously doubt the general tenor of things is making him feel as right-at-home as me.
 
I think I remember hearing a few years ago that Mohammed had become the official most common first name in the whole wide world.

I'd call him Mo

giving people nicknames in the right spirit and way can make them feel part of the group.

also i'd recommend starting some conversation about turbins and female face coverings, jihad, sept 11 and shit like that, something in his wheel house

Mohammed does invite us to call him Mo. I have not yet witnessed him jumping into a single conversation about Family Guy or The Ramones or Coen Brothers movies - or anything else - nor did he wear a costume today or help his pumpkin partner (me) carve it - because, as he said, "I don't celebrate Halloween" - but "Mo" is okay.

I'm sure whatever they want to pay is fine. No need to discuss that stuff.

On 311 an 8 jellybean spread is pretty tough to stick with. All I'm saying.

All the chuckin stuff paid off.

If I have to play anything from tiddlywinks to horseshoes with Muddy anytime soon I'm saving myself some time and forfeiting in advance.
