Not sure who here is a reader (fiction, specifically) but yesterday was the 3 year anniversary of J.D. Salinger's death and I caught a documentary on PBS the other night that was fantastic. A bit of a spoiler if you didn't already know but they will be releasing new Salinger material from his vault beginning in 2015.

You know I (like everyone) read Catcher in the Rye in school but I cannot currently remember one thing about it. I was looking for al ight read for the trip..maybe I should reread that. ...or something else of his.

Hemmingway...The Sun Also Rises was a favorite. I always feel guilty re-reading books ..like I should be reading something that I haven't read before...but I think I will make it my goal to read those while I'm gone. Definitely Catcher in the Rye because I really remember NOTHING about that...which is weird. That must have been in junior high?

I think I read everything he published. Many years back. I was obviously interested at one time but I chucked all his books during The Great Chucking of 2013.

No interest in revisiting any of it or looking at any new stuff.

Also not interested in the doc due to the reviews I have heard/read. Peeps I trust didn't like it.

Do you not watch a movie because of bad reviews? I've never done that, I tend to trust my gut more than someone else's opinion.

From what I remember the Catcher in the Rye is interesting in the way it addresses phoniness and the general depressive feel of American life. But not a lot really happens :dunno:
I remember reading it wondering what makes it such a big deal? And then I got it.

I've read Catcher In The Rye 4 or 5 times. I've always felt it's outstanding.

I've read Nine Stories too and I liked most of it.

And I often don't watch or make a point to watch films/read books based on trusted friends comments on it.

I don't have enough free time to experiment and shit
