No, it doesn't work like that. You cannot deal with anyone with any type of mental illness directly like you would a more balanced person. You got to know that most of the time they understand that something is not right but it's beyond their control. To confront directly most of the time will be useless. First you got to learn to identify when they get "triggered". When they are in an unbalanced state the first thing you can do, if you're committed to help and be a presence in their life, is to change one's own behavior. Even if it's frustrating or hurtful you always have to be above, you can't ever succumb to the level of the disorder. Know that it's a long term process to treat, you got to win every single progress. Life can improve for them and everyone around but first we must educate ourselves and learn how to react to every situation methodical not emotional.
