Just reflecting back on what I had to eat yesterday. I wasn't giving it any thought as I went along but it seems noteworthy in retrospect:

4 Eggo waffles w/syrup
2 donuts from Tim Hortons
a bowl of chips
big plate of chicken wings
little bowl of bridge mixture
triple chocolate ice cream w/ Cool Whip

Other than a bunch of coffee and water, that was my day.

Oh, I had 2 glasses of milk with the chicken wings :greencheck:
Sweet!

Mr. M I think Bridge mix is a bunch of chocolate covered stuff...like raisins, peanuts, other nuts

I always have milk with dinner but yeah, those wings were hot so ----> 2 glasses.

And correct, Bridge Mix is a bunch of mixed chocolates. There are different mixes but this is the exact bag I get. It says Lowney on there but it also says Hershey on the back so whatever that means.

That particular mix is mint, orange, and Irish creme flavored pieces coated in dark chocolate; peanuts, raisins, caramels, and Turkish delight coated in milk chocolate. Looks like this:

I am not doing much better today eating-wise. I had a couple things that were alright but I also finished off the bag of bridge mix and ate more chips from the bag.

Plan for dinner is steak and bacon and eggs. Not exactly health food.

Oh well. Tomorrow is a new day.

I am overweight due to some leg surgeries but on my way back to somewhat normal for me. When you break it down it is pretty damn simple. Eat what you want, but you have to move. If you exercise a little each or every other day you will do yourself wonders. I have been good this season as there has not been much junk food laying around, which is good. I love jerky so other than the sodium its not bad for you. Doughnuts are my families downfall as we have the best bakery around just a mile away.

Should have a workout, weight or some motivating thread like hognuts had. Start moving now, just a walk is good, as most of you here are a lot younger than me.

It's the Holidays Muddy! Eat, eat, eat!!!
That's right. Make sure you drown those wings in Ranch dip too! lol. Diet in 2014. That's my plan.

My parents also played bridge...probably why I know what bridge mix is. Do people still play bridge or is it a dying game? I never learned how but fond memories of being a kid and going to bed with the sounds of my folks and friends playing bridge in the living room.

I have never heard it called bridge "mixture." Only Bridge mix...and I think made by Brach's here.

Actually they say only %30 of your weight can really be controlled by exercise. You really can't eat what you want. It's at least a 70/30 thing, if not 80/20 which sucks. Think about it. If you cut 1000 calories per day, you will lose 2 lbs a week, but do you know how much work it is to burn off an extra 1000 calories a day thru exercise? 7 days a week? Ideally you do both. And exercise will make you feel better regardless.

Start a hognuts like thread Kid. I am sure a few around here could use some motivation/encouragement. I know I could.

p.s mail me one of those doughnuts..just make sure you express mail it as I'm done eating junk after Wed. :)

Grand Slam is another name for basically the same thing as Bridge Mixture. I have seen that sold in bulk at various places.

People definitely still play bridge. My dad is a champion player who is something like 25th all-time in Canada for lifetime Master points earned (which is how tournament players are ranked). He still plays all the time and travels all around for it.

I have had bridge around me my whole life. Dad has many bridge-playing friends and has taught the game to kids at a local school.

It is dying down though. He does not deny that.

I don't know that I have ever seen him eat Bridge Mixture.

That's impressive about your dad. All Do you play bridge MC....or know how? All I know is you try to get tricks We have some bridge scoring pad deals around here that I have yet to chuck for sentimental reasons I guess.

I have a general idea of how bridge works but no, I don't play. I am reputed to have strong card sense which applies to poker, black ball, euchre, cribbage - pretty much any game I have tried - I guess I have inherited that - but I have never gone for the Full Monty which would be bridge.

Blackball is a good trick-based game which you can play with any number of people (you know, within reason). Used to play it quite a bit in my drinking days. Can be played for money or just for victory.

Pretty easy to explain the rules, if you actually want to know.

Thank you but I probably wouldn't retain it long enough for it to be useful the next time I actually have occasion to play (If it takes 4 people)
