That's an interesting perspective. I see it as almost an inevitability they get tricked again. And again. And again. No idea where your faith in sanity is coming from.

I expect it's time for the constituency of the dupable to rise above the waterline again. Ebb and flow. Would they actually elect another Bush? Sure. Hell they'd probably elect Dubya himself again if you let them.
 
I'm coming from the perspective that the Dems' target demographic has grown, post-Katrina and post-Obamacare. I'm probably forgetting a whole lot of things that exposed the GOP as being repulsed by the common man.
 
IMO the fact that polls are giving a big lead to Hillary over both Paul and Bush is pretty telling. Hillary isn't even well-liked by Democrat voters.

Americans are voting for the brand nowadays. Otherwise Romney would've got in in 2012. All-American white boy used to be a strong selling point.

Obama may have benefited from his race in 2008, although I think it was mostly a violent return of the pendulum after 8 years of simpleton, rural Bush.
