There is nothing about the 3rd ipad that make it specially able to use microsoft documents.

There are several apps available for all versions of ipad's that can edit excel/word files.

There are rumors that microsoft will release ipad office apps, but nothing for than that. It would still work on any ipad.

Do you know how inferior your hardware is to comparable Android tablets? Do you know anything about true multitasking/multithreading versus multitasks? Do you know anything about computers at all?

Didn't think so.

Name one thing that you can do on it that I can't do better with something else.

Just over 2.5. But he's crazy when it comes to electronics of any sort. I don't know how he figures this stuff out because I don't teach him it. Especially with anything Apple. It's like it's built for toddlers. Problem is his gentle phase only kicks in with his cheapo Thomas laptop. Anything that actually costs decent money, he just hammers. :sad:

My iPad is amazing. Yes very expensive, but I waited for the 3rd generation so it would support Microsoft documents so I can work on itif I so chose.

Pretty pointless to discuss things of this nature with people who barely know how to turn on a computer.

There is one thing that I respect about Apple - their ability to brainwash morons and take advantage of them.
 
some decent info in here. I am considering a 3rd generation one as well, but only 16 gigs. Not sure if I should get a 32 gig. I doubt I'd be storing a lot of shit on it, but who knows. I know people say that the 3rd has better graphics (retina display.....whatever), camera, video, but I'm wondering if there is really much of a difference between the 2nd and the 3rd. I'm not into video games or shit like that. I just need something more lighter, and something I can carry around from room to room in my house. The battery on my laptop is shot and the thing weighs a ton as well.
 
Apparently the 16gig model has insufficient storage if you need a lot of 3rd party apps. The HD apps take a shitload more space than the old ones - you're looking at ~500mb downloads whereas the non-HD versions were a dozen megs or so.

Probably still fine if you're mostly using stock apps.
 
Thanks Matty. I never really considered the HD apps because I never really knew there were any.

The only reason I am considering an iPad is that we have an iPhone at home so I figured it would be best to stick with Apple. TBH I don't give a shit what or who the maker (brand) is. I figured with this iCloud shit it would make sense to share things between the phone and tablet.

I have some thinking to do.

I had 24 months "American" maternity leave all up. 12 paid, 12 taken as contractor pay where I still had to do some work. Ended in August 2011. So yeah, he's 2.5 ;)
 
I may have asked this before but does anyone have the Galaxy? That was the one I was considering getting for myself before I realised I truly don't need one. Their commercials suck me in though and I know a few people who have them who love them.

They pitched it to me at a BestBuy store. It looks like an an oversized smart phone and an undersized ipad. It's basically in no man's land.
 
I have a cheap Android tablet, not a Samsung though. It works fine. :dunno:

I was going to get the new iPad but I heard that Asus was coming out with an HD version of the Transformer Prime that morphs into a laptop when you get the keyboard dock thingie. I'm going to get that instead.
