Liverpool will sign Chelsea youngster Daniel Sturridge in the January transfer window.

He's gonna be Andy Carroll's replacement at the club. What a waste of money Carroll was/is.
 
We have a lot to cover. I want to talk about 'revenge of the square' first. Revenge of the square involves thousands of people betting Both-Teams-To-Score parlays and realizing they can win those bets through sheer luck - whereas parlays on teams to win/draw rarely get won with luck, one will always let you down.

So many people are winning with these parlays that Stan James now make most games 8-13 or 4-7 for both teams to score, a crazy number. But I like the situation whereby total squares can pick five games with very little capping involved and win on a semi regular basis, it's definitely given the betting man a legitimate 'out' if he can't be bothered to cap, or simply doesn't want to.

SoV, tell me you're a Both Teams To Score degenerate.
 
True story about Sturridge: He's on $100,000 a week and has 18 months on his contract left. Chelsea want to offload him but Sturridge made it clear he would sit on his backside in the reserves and take his money for the next 18 months unless they agreed to give him $2M dollars to leave, and Chelsea agreed! So he gets a $2M 'gift' from Chelsea and probably a $1.5M signing on fee at Liverpool with a wage incrase to $120K per week. Nice work if you can get it!

I used to do that when I had a sportsbook.ag account. I need to set up accounts from back home, so I can access them in the US, but my parents are unhelpful.

I have a lot of friends who do the "Goals galore" every weekend. And more often than not, at the end of the weekend, they end up hating 2/3 teams who let down their accas.

It's pretty funny. :laugh:

His agents tried to have a clause inserted into his contract that he would only play in the middle, and not on the wings. That was fucking absurd, which is why negotiations stalled for a few days.

He comes across as a massive twat as well. Ran down his contract at Man City, was willing to do the same at Chelsea. However, Rodgers has worked with him at Chelsea, and Sturridge wants to get back into the England squad, so I'm hoping he shows a bit more bottle and words hard at Liverpool.
 
And then we have the battle a the top and bottom of the EPL. United look good, Chelsea are getting hot at just the right time and Man City can't decide whether to go for Pep Guardiola or not.

At the bottom, Reading are doomed and QPR have Harry Redknapp to try and get them out of the shit, which means we should get more of this:

Very true but I bet their accas - like my mates accas - are ten games long right? If you impose a four game max on that bet there's cash to be had.
 
Man City are getting Pep. They recently appointed Txiki Begiristain, who was the director of football at Barcelona from '03 till '10. There is a lot of mutual respect between Pep and him, and I think that may result in Pep going to City.

Man Utd look good at the top, but their lack of midfield and poor defense might prove their undoing (hopefully). Chelsea are 8 behind, but I remember Man Utd blowing a similar lead last year and in 08/09.

As for the bottom, Reading and QPR are going down, imo. Both look awful. Aston Villa might join them. Can't believe they won at Anfield last week. :banghead:

Or they do accas with 10 teams and throw a fit if it doesn't come in.

I remember, when I started betting, I had a $2 10-team acca going, odds of 33/1. Last two teams were Juve and Roma.

Roma turned around a 2-1 deficit in the 90th min to win, I started celebrating. Look at my account and it's a loss. Fucking Juventus blew a 3-1 lead in added time.

I'll be honest, I totally agree with Ferguson about Willaims. If you boot the ball hard enough at a guys head from 2 yards you could easily break his neck or damage his brain, simply because RVP didn't even know it was coming. I thought it was the cheapest of cheap shots.

Agree about City, Pep seems a shoe in for me now they have his backroom team there.

Harry is good entertainment, but if you notice now, every interview he does is either critical of the previous manager or telling everyone how hard a job he has, it's like he's laying the ground for failure, just in case.

My team (Southampton) are right in the shit and will go to the wire as to whether they survive.
 
The beauty of BTTS is you just need a goal....any fucking goal, and when you examine how many ways there are of getting goals it makes more sense to play that way than to try to pick winners outright. I still play outrights but not nearly as much as I used to.

It's more to do with his hypocrisy than anything.

Roy Keane on Haaland, Evans stamping on Drogba's chest, Cantona kicking a fan etc. His own team is full of thugs so it's a bit funny when he goes mad regarding incidents like yesterday's.

I agree about Harry. Sets low expectations, so when he succeeds, he's lauded. If he fails, then the media sympathise with poor ol' 'Arry. The media seem to love him as well, as if he can't do any wrong.

I remember when Hodgson was appointed as the Liverpool manager, the papers were full of articles lauding Roy and his success (which was pretty much fuck all). Then when he got chosen over 'Arry to manage England, the press went berserk, saying how 'Arry had been lied to/cheated and how the FA were responsible for the Spurs not doing well (it eventually led to 'Arry being sacked. They were sitting tidy in 3rd, he started talking about the England job and the Spurs tanked).

Also can't forget how 'Arry leaves teams in the shitter. Huddersfield, Portsmouth are two fine examples. Couldn't get away with it at Spurs with Levy running the financial side.

Southampton are playing some brilliant footy. Even if they go down, you can be proud of the way they are playing though I do think they will stay up.

Always had a soft spot for my since my aunt used to live a few streets down from St Mary's so I got to see Soton in full pomp uder Strachan, with Kevin Phillips, James Beattie, and Marian Pahars leading the line. :laugh:

I play totals and spreads mainly but betting has been pretty shit so far this year for me.

I have everything set up, just need to send funds and stuff. Taking a break from betting at the moment, due to lack of funds (moved to a new place and needed to buy loads of stuff for it).
