Do any of you say IDEAR instead of IDEA. I don't get why people say IDEAR instead of IDEA. People are weird.

Nope. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people call a creek a crick. can't stand it. Like, what? You think you can just make up a work for something that already exists, or say it wrong, and be right?! NO! there is only one way to say it. period. There is no I in creek, so don't say it. just don't.

My dad has been known to reinvent words. For example the word "five." He knows and uses the word five normally in many situations. If he was counting, he would say three, four, five like anyone else.

However in referring to an amount of money - a fin, if you will - he says, "Fye dollars."

For some reason it's fye dollars.

:dunno:

You know what I just realized, what came to me in a flash of inspiration? It's not just my dad. John Travolta says fye dollar in Pulp Fiction. He talks about the fye dollar shake.

Maybe my dad is not just a total weirdo saying fye dollars. Maybe it's a thing.

It's an Yank thing. Seriously. Maybe blame Pa off of Little House on the Prairie.

Another one I don't understand is CATSUP instead of KETCHUP.
