To me the video game argument makes zero sense. Games are games, you have very limited cognitive engagement with a game, whether it's a FPS or a sports/acing game. You're just looking for the satisfaction of accomplishing what's expected of you. There are zero consequences for "bad behaviour" and you know there is zero risk to your life or that of other characters in the game. Every gamer is aware of that.

Whatever.

This SSRI culture needs to be reassessed and the FDA/Health Canada need better testing protocols that won't put misunderstood drugs on the market.

The scientific community has no idea why these drugs work in treating mood disorders in some people. Your doctor will admit as much before prescribing hardcore shit to you.

Spot on with the SSRI argument. Problem is there's no bad behavior anymore. The prescription drug industry has everyone believing they are sick while humans go through a range of highs and lows emotionally throughout the day. Trying to artificially maintain certain levels especially at a young age where the brain is still developing is asking for trouble.

Yeah I never said anything about the fraud Michael Moore. However it is too easy to obtain a firearm. That much is certain. What is uncertain is how you fix that without taking the rights of the individual under our Constitution away. I don't know anything about this kid but my first guess is he was mentally unstable and they probably had him on one or more prescription medications. A normal person just doesn't do this.

They will figure it out how to fix it. But the solution is definitely not more people bearing guns openly. Like arming the teachers, movie theater attendants, restaurant servers, mall store cashiers, etc with guns. We don't want to turn the US to the Wild West and everyone can shoot anyone at any given time because we are all bearing guns everywhere we go.
 
Pavy, not to make an argument for gun enthusiast or hard core 2nd amendment activist but the innocent are the ones not armed. People willing to abide by gun laws and do the right thing are the majority of the people who are killed by guns. Guns by the way that are in the hands of people who wouldn't/don't abide by gun laws in the first place.

Let's say hypothetically we abolish all privately owned guns. That will mean nothing to the criminal element in our society. Where there's a will there's a way and you know this to be true. Maybe it becomes more difficult but by no means does it become impossible.

Take the guns out of the equation. You don't need a gun to do as the example Oksana gave about the slasher, you don't need a gun to do as Micheal McVay did in Oklahoma City, you don't need a gun to do as Ted Kacynski did as the uni-Bomber.

I don't support teachers carrying guns, I don't support the girl handing me my popcorn at the movies being strapped, I don't support it but but I do agree it would serve as a deterrent. Most of these types, while arguably detached from reality and what's right and wrong have shown the ability to be selective in their attacks. Usually these are carried out where access is easiest.

Reduce vulnerability and you might reduce the threat.
 
Who said anything about abolishing private guns? I just do not want to take my kids to the mall if I know every single store owner, the people who work at the food court and all the mall goers are armed with a pistol in their holster. It will not make me safer. I would feel safer if there is triple mall security and policemen patrolling the mall.

I don't have any guns. IF I did I wouldn't be comfortable knowing they can be accessed by anyone else than me.

I briefly looked into getting a small handgun and joining a club but Canada really makes it a pain in the ass to own. S'not worth it.
 
I have two safes in my house. One safe for the guns and one safe for the mags and bullets. So if you break in one safe you will find an unloaded gun and if you break on the other one you will find bullets and unloaded mags. I think this is child proof.
