What if i make 100m a year trading for some bank for 5 straight years and i am paid 30m for my work. In year 6 I lose 7 billion but i keep my 30m and get the same job at a different bank for year 7. Year 6 was just bad luck right?

You and Focker get along so you wouldn't have to sweet talk him but I bet if you asked him he would write you an App that would tell you to take an extended vacation in year 6 and avoid making the horrible investment.

kind of a difficult subject. You can say variance=luck. I tend to think of variance as a percentage. Like 99% of the time you will be within a given range after so many trials.
But the question is about the poker players who are famous or highly rated or richest. Are they .001% of decent poker players who got lucky or are they inherently better. And a lifetime of playing may not be enough to overcome the luck factor. :dunno:

Sincere or not?

rj stop perpetuating this misunderstanding. Warm shoulder means pandering to books while stiffing Shanty. As in "Loshak gave book the warm shoulder".

that is the literal form but it's essence can be applied to almost anything in life

one of the great things about dr asher john is that his shantyisms can be pull out to hundreds of life scenarios

one of my favorite ones "It was a difficult time, but not devoid of romance."
