Mike Wilner, who does play-by-play on games and also does an interactive post-game show, has been forced to sit out the Yankees series.

I don't know how I feel about it.

Neither Wilner nor the radio station (theFAN 590) are commenting on the reasons so there is rampant speculation that it is for being overly critical of the Jays and manager Cito Gaston in particular. Both the Jays and theFAN 590 are owned by Rogers Communications.

So that would suck if it is all about muzzling honest criticism.

On the other hand, he does kind of suck. He calls the game tolerably well but he is a tool when he starts free-styling with his own thoughts. If he has been suspended for sucking, I would be good with that.

Mixed feelings, as I say.

Awesome news. It`s just to bad it wasn`t a perma ban. Perhaps the most annoying man ever in the history of radio. I knew he wasn`t doing the weekend but i thought it had to do with something other than him getting suspended. He can criticize others with the best of them, but challenge any of his opinions and he turns into a whiny, crying little schoolgirl. I hope this is the beginning of the end for him.

There, someone knows what I'm talking about.

The thing is, he can be critical of the Jays - but he can also be ridiculously defensive about them. If people on the phone-in are cutting down the Jays he will defend them up and down. He basically just wants to contradict whatever is in front of him whether it makes sense or not.

He needs to be less of an all-around yard-ape. Hopefully that's what the suspension is about.

20four7, plommer and fiveteamer must know who I'm talking about.
I know who he is and I enjoy listening to him when I'm in the car.

Is this guy Canadian?
No he's an ex baseball player from the good ole USA that works the baseball season in Toronto as a radio host for the sports station fan590.
