immune system?

Serious question. I have an upper respitory infection right now and I was just sick in the middle of October (stomach flu).

I'm tired of this shit. :tissue:

Has anyone had any success in this area?

How is cutting the drinks gonna help his immune system?

Excessive alcohol can damage the immune system because the alcohol will prevent nutrients from feeding your immune system. The alcohol is absorbed into your bloodstream through your stomach. Once in the bloodstream, alcohol will reduce the white blood cell count in the body. The lower the number of white blood cells, the more difficult it is to fight off disease. Alcohol also combines with red blood cells for the process of "blood sludging." In this process, red blood cells clump together and cause smaller blood vessels to plug up. This reduces the flow of oxygen to many vital organs. With less than an optimal amount of oxygen, your organs and your immune system will not operate at peak efficiency.

Diet.

Apples, oranges, broccoli, cantaloupe, brown rice and olive oil make the immune system stronger. Green leafy vegetables, whole grains, beans, fruit and roots help in making the immune system stronger. Make sure to include fish and poultry in your everyday diet, as they have been found to be beneficial for the immune system. Sweets and high-fat food items are a big no-no. Having them occasionally is ok, but don’t make it a habit to have desserts on a daily basis. Do not consume too much dairy. Even red meat and eggs should be taken in moderation. Garlic is very good for the immune system of the body. You can take it either raw or in cooked form.

Also the proper amount of sleep, and even laughter are considered good for the immune system.

Suifficient sleep, a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables and getting the recommended doses of vitamins are very good starts if you're not doing them already. Smoking is never good but (above from what Pavy already stated) I'm sure in most cases that the effect of drinking is less about how the alcohol affects your immune system rather than heavy drinkers being the kind of people who don't look after their bodies in the first place. You can also introduce more traditional/herbal things like garlic, ginseng and certain types of mushrooms (I can't recall off hand which are the good ones to eat) amongst a host of other possibilities. Finally, don't buy Airborne.

I eat a ton of broccoli, apples, fish and brown rice. Probably more than you do. I sleep like shit on a routine basis. I'm taking steps to improve in that area but it's been a LONG process. I just had surgery for a deviated septum.

Why are eggs bad for your immune system. I have roughly 6 scrambled egg whites every morning.

MrX
I don't buy much of it.

Besides, the last thing most people should want is a boosted immune system. Autoimmune diseases are plentiful and awful.

Right but I don't know how much more of being sick constantly I can handle. I guess I should let everyone know that I have one son in daycare and I think that has something to do with it.

I said moderation, never said they were bad for you per say. However, one egg contains about 212 mg of cholesterol. Since the recommendation for cholesterol consumption is about 300 mg per day...but that is all in the yolk so if you are eating egg whites you are fine. However, the sleep thing should be looked into.
