When a team misses a field goal, the ball is turned over at the spot of the kick, not the line of scrimmage. ~7 yards difference. It should be the line of scrimmage.

That's how it used to be and I remember when they changed it. The premise was that it would encourage more going-for-it and less field goal attempts. I'm not sure to what extent that has happened but it just doesn't feel right and equitable to me. Field goals are part of the game and there should be no particular penalty for attempting one and there should be no special reward for the team that has allowed their opponent to drive into range IMO.

That is all.

take the face masks off...helmets should look like the hockey guy in renos avatar

It has been suggested and I would be for it. It would stop the people launching with their head and learn how to tackle.

A rule I would love to see is a delay of game called on the team snapping the ball on a FG after the team calls TO. Its like a practice swing.

I would like to see them award field goal attempts for personal foul penalties.

Facemasking? Yeah, line up on the 20 yd line and take a shot at a field goal. Like the NFL equivalent of a technical foul.

Also, team taking a knee in the endzone on a kickoff should give up a point.

Why are return guys rewarded with 20 yards for giving up and not trying?

Also don't like how they "protect" kickers. You wanna be a football player but you don't wanna get smashed up? Fuck that, kickers should be fair game.

Why do kickers even need helmets?

Would also like to see a penalty of 5 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct when a player pretends to be a referee and mimicks pulling the flag out of his belt when he thinks a penalty should have been called.

It is very ghey for a NFL player to be flicking his wrist like that.

You know what I'm talkin about.

Wouldn't mind seeing players get ejected for excess celebration too.

You want to dance - go to the club after the game. We don't wanna see it.

PS: Why don't kickers celebrate the same way as touchdown scorers?

I wouldn't mind seeing a kicker dance the cha cha after making a PAT or FG.

If anyone should be dancing it's kickers, they are safe from being hit.

I think twice this year a coach challenged a TD play, which due to a new rule results in a 15 yard penalty and the play is automatically NOT challenged.

pretty steep penalty, maybe the most punitive in the NFL. Obviously the NFL wants to eliminate this from happening

but still 2 times it happened this year

to make sure this is eliminated for next year, I propose the following

if a coach challenges an unchallengable play, the team automatically forfeits that game and all other games of that calendar month, 1 player off the roster must have his pinky amputated, the QB has to throw all his passes with his off hand, defense has to play with 9 players for the rest of the year, the coach must coach bottomless the rest of the year and you MUST have Matthew Broderick as your placekicker

That rule will be changed after the season.

I think that if an NFL game goes to overtime and there is no score after 1 extra period of play they should go to a kickoff!

I mean they should make the kickers kick field goals until one misses, moving the ball back 10 yds after every field goal.

Like penalty kicks in soccer (futbol).

I really shouldn't be giving these ideas away for free, I should be consulting with the league for a fee.

I have some great thoughts about improving an already fabulous game, a game loved by billions around the world.

You can't have FG in football like you are describing. The reason penalty kicks work in soccer to decide winner in ties is because a player can only kick one of the five and then if it goes to more than five the same player can't kick again.

That gives me an even better idea.

I think that in overtime they should make it a field goal contest and the only players eligible to attempt the kicks are defensive linemen.

Any player less than 300 lbs would be ineligible to attempt a field goal kick.

The NFL came up with a lousy format for overtime, I'm trying to help them out.
