I think he wants to boost membership. The pro-gay crowd is massive.

Under all that humility is hidden a pro fokken hustler.
I wonder what percentage of today's Catholics are pro gay though...it would seem that it might be a risky move, but I don't know the numbers. He seems like a genuine guy as far as pope's go. I think I read he chose to forego the Popemobile in lieu of some junky old car.

Their Mom is a believer, much to my astonishment.

I don't think it's even an option for Frenchie kids in Toronto to not attend religion classes. I will sign them up for their first communion, then they can decide to get confirmed or not. I remember a handful of my classmates opting out of confirmation back then. I'm not sure why I went through with it - probably to please my grandparents, whom I was close to.

Forward thinking? I think any reasonable observer would come to the conclusion that excluding by sexual orientation isn't going to be tolerated by the upcoming generations. It's pretty clear which way the wind is blowing.

I don't mind believers until it ends a serious discussion....me and my wife will be talking about something important about the kids or our money and she will say 'Whatever is going to happen will happen, it's Gods plan' this always starts a fight, I go crazy when she says this and of course tell her that God ain't going to help in any way because he doesn't excist and then a 3 day fight starts..

It's hard to reason with a group of people who live in fantasy land....Name one time in History that something Non-Ambigueous was cured with prayer..ONE...name One and I will be a believer

Again it has to come down to belief system Teddy. Believers may say such and such was a result of prayer, and others will attribute it to science. I have prayed for things and had them come about in such a way that I have to believe were a result of prayer..but others would argue coincidence. There are plenty of examples in the Bible, but of course if you don't believe the Bible, that won't work. I don't know if yours was a rhetorical question, but to prove it, you need to pre-suppose the very thing you are trying to prove I would think. There is a name for that type of argument but not coming to me at the moment. I don't know if I am explaining that correctly but I am sure you get what I'm saying.

Last Friday's WKRP talk was more fun.

Oh, by no means I am not saying Atheists are angry all the time. I have many jolly atheist friends. I think it just comes out mostly when discussing religion. I don't get mad when others don't share my views, but it seems like atheists get angry at believers of any type. They like to stereotype a lot. It could be frustration or bewilderment, but it comes off as anger. Maybe I am stereotyping as well. If so, shame on me.

I am not alone in this thinking. Maybe it is just in the believer community, but that is the perception. It's not just me.

Of course atheist types get upset when discussing religion for the last time I checked atheist beliefs hadn't destroyed millions of innocent lives around the world in the name of their non-god!!

IAG you are so such better than the outdated belief system that's been flogged to death since well past its use by date.

Thank you Xpansive. That is the kind of answer I was looking for. Considering that the vast majority of the world's population claim to be believers of one sort or another, I just think that's a pretty big group with which to be angry. It reminds me of blacks upset with modern day whites for the sins of their forefathers. Is it just Christians then with whom they are angry or Jews, Buddists, etc as well? Serious question. I'm curious if those atheists who are "angry" (understanding that not all are,) havie any anger directed at other religious groups or if it's just the Christians.

For non-believers, I don't generally see anger as much as a general condition of finding religion ridiculous. Certainly there is not a comparable level of anger to that which so many religions have had toward each other through the course of history and continuing today.

To the rational, it is all on par with adults believing in Santa Clause. It seems ridiculous. That would not just apply to Christianity. They are all equally implausible.

However if there is to be anger, it would most likely be greatest towards the one most in your face. So atheists in Italy would have more occasion to be exasperated with the various Christ-based packages than with Shinto or whatever the natives of Borneo are praying about.

It just stands to reason.

IAG can only speak as personal experiences with being an agnositicist as whenever i state that there's nothing wrong in not knowing im almost instantly accused of being a "fence sitter" (please keep in mind im from a largely (although dwindling) catholic/christian society. When further questioned id approx 85% of those were currently practicing religion.)

This is the part that confuses the shite out of me. A fence sitter to what exactly?? Taking sides in the belief v fact fantasy league??

Anyway, from my viewpoint the more right leaning and vocal the religions beliefs then the more open to criticism from the offline and online world these religions should expect because they say and do things that aren't representative of the wider societal view.

Its where every religion goes wrong. Not taking into account that there others who may think differently and simply leaving it be. And dont even get me started about the starting of wars in the name of some entity who cant express its current views on said topic...

Thats sociopathic type behaviour imo.

if you are counting dollars

I think the score might be more like

Phil +25,000,000

AE + 4,000,000,000

everyone wins it was not really a competition was it?

Which is exactly why I don't want to hear the gay agenda. Nothing a few $$$ couldn't heal. Now if we can shut up
the Rev Jesse Jackson, saying PR is worse than the Rosa Parks bus driver.
