You are correct. People who use "religion" as a means to exert control over others are just as wrong. The whole Duck Dynasty issue is that the beliefs of the whole family were not a secret. If you don't like what they stand for, don't watch the show, buy the merchandise, etc. And there are several non-Christians now days who do just that, Mr. X.

This whole Duck Dynasty does seem silly to me. Like we're all saying, this was a surprise? Silly.

I would argue, though, that it's a bit more understandable for a group of people to act silly when they've been on the receiving end of the kind of control that we're talking about. They would argue that promoting those viewpoints is empowering to the jackasses that try to pass laws based on said viewpoints.
