Yes, it is - one of the highest rates in Africa, I think Swaziland is the worst at over 25%. Things are certainly not helped when the Catholics preach against the use of condoms which is the cheapest method of prevention. The problem is generally worse in sub-Saharan Africa so if the malaria doesn't get you then HIV probably will.

I knew there were high levels of HIV in parts of Africa but for some reason I thought South Africa was more advanced than Congo and whatnot. 20% is an insane number. I had no idea it was like that. I guess I need to get out of my cave more often.
