I never said I was leaving, I said I was going to reduce my involvement to topics that I found worth of deep discussion.

Wishy-washy pseudo-philosophical rants aren't exactly deep discussion.

That leads me to believe that what I want out of a forum is probably exactly what you guys don't want, for the most part.

You want people to express admiration towards your writing. Some people do - but it pisses you off that shanty and several other Forumville "celebrities" have managed to do it with more consistency than you. Period.

I don't believe that examination of the abstract holds any greater merit than Shanty's iron, but you must agree that they are somewhat mutually exclusive.

Ignoring the fact that the first part of your statement is insincere, appreciating shanty's unique mish-mash of Paki culture and English language might well be a deeper form of "examination of the abstract" than whatever it is you think you're doing when you get overly wordy on us.

Certain elements are trumped up to a level which shouts down others; which leads to a polarizing effect among the members. It's no different than JJ across the street, but you must accept what you are becoming.

This place isn't "becoming" anything IMO, it's essentially the same group of witty douchebags being themselves all over again, post-SBR_John-Tilt-of-2010.

Scholar, this place is filled with smart people - you're just too uncompromising to realize that "smart" takes many different forms and you can't accept the fact that you're not being "trumped up" to the level of greatness you think you're entitled to.

Most people here have managed to find their niche and they are content with the type of interaction they can manage in the jungle that is a public Internet forum. You just can't seem to do it at all, no matter the crowd.

You're an intelligent guy who likes to craft long-winded sentences and then have people comment on how intelligently crafted your long-winded sentences are. But don't kid yourself - as far as Forumville is concerned, you're proving yourself to be much more of a one-trick pony than shanty and JJ. At least they take on all comers and don't threaten to go home every time they face adversity.
