You need a thinner rim to smack the eggs on. The measuring cup has too much thickness and will smush the shell instead of making a nice slice thru it. The idea is to try to cut the shell in two, thereby making it easy to separate the shell halves.

Man I was looking pretty crusty in that video though. In the future I should probably consider splashing some cold water on my face and straightening out my hair before making a video.

Maybe hold off on the smack until after.
