Illy, Pushing Daisies was so so so good. Bread and I didn't rent the first season until about six months ago, knowing that it had already been canceled. Just finished watching the second season a few months ago and I cried like a baby at the last episode, knowing it was all over. The casting was perfect...actually, everything about it was perfect. I am such a mess.

Show that got canned way too early.....Kings.

That show was amazing but I think the budget ended up doing it in. It was filmed in such extravagant locations around NYC that each episode must have cost a fortune.

Agreed! I was so ready to dive into that show, especially with the hottie evil gay prince and then it gets canned. It's always like that with shows I enjoy.

this is VERY VERY VERY VERY weird - I was JUST THINKING about this EXACT question just this weekend, I was thinking about it a lot

Not at all because I care or it's an important question, just because I saw some old Soul Train episodes and thought to myself "this has got to be one of the best TV shows ever done"

I was mostly thinking about the question out of procrastination

Very weird that this thread comes on here now

Anyway - Seinfeld and Soul Train. If you count animated shows, Beavis and Butthead. I'm sure there are many I'm forgetting. South Park isn't even close, sorry guys.

I have never seen The Wire. Many people have told me it's great and that I in particular would love it.

I have watched The Simpsons at least 8 times and I never found it even remotely funny. I just never "got" it.

you are right.

The Simpsons is good or great once in a while but also a lot of it was obviously written by self-satisfied people in love with how smart and clever they think they are, and it's transparent to people who really are smart and clever.

Some of it is good to great, don't get me wrong. But in general, am overrated show. Not close to being the best of all times.

It may be because different sets of people were involved with different thing at different points in the show, like SNL, so that could easily explain changes.

I would imagine when a show gets successful, there's a lot of pressure to churn it out and the producers wind up hiring lame egotists with shining paper credentials who suck in real life.
