You guys putting down football and soccer just dont get it, you are just watching the sports from the couch. Soccer and American football is all about the cultures around the game. There is starting to be more of that European firm and that terrace culture developing among some of the clubs in MLS, you go to the DC united games they have all the songs, the drinking, even alot better than some of the games in Europe because there are more women there. I am really looking forward to going to a portland timbers game, great crowd.

Tailgating at an American college or even a nfl football game is one of the funnest things you can do, college football in the mid Atlantic area sucks but hopefully more acc and teams from around here will join the sec and I can see real football. I went to a couple of lsu games , they had had incredible food and beer for tailgating, not to mention all those hot girls at LSU. Pro football in the mid-atlantic sucks, Redskins and the Panthers are pretty mediocre but the Ravens stadium is great.

Soccer is the most beautiful sport in the world. You enjoy a game where there are no commercial interruptions and flawless passing with players playing offense and defense. It's the most exciting game to watch on TV.

And one goal.

Plommer, what happens when the soccer ball gets punctured by the razor wire used to keep the "fans" away? Do they use a can to kick?

Greg, you make some excellent points. I agree that tailgating can be fun.

Razor wire? Yeah, thats alot worse than the tasers the cops use on fans that get out of line at US events.

As for the 1-0 games in soccer. I saw plenty of goals today.

I grew up going to a soccer game every weekend. The stadium atmosphere is something you can never see in the US in other Pro sports. We go to Braves game all the time and the most exciting part for me is waiting in line to get a hot dog or a funnel cake. The food is great but I never feel like I'm part of the game like in soccer. I can't eat or drink when I'm watching a soccer game live. The action is too much and the emotions go up and down constantly.

You watch Man City - Man U last week. 2-3

Today Newcastle - Man City 1-3.

Do you realize that a 3-2 soccer game is the equivalent of a 21-14 football game. The reason you think football is high scoring is because they give 7 points for a touchdown when in reality a game has 5-6 touchdowns which is equivalent of 5-6 soccer goals.

Baseball or cricket isnt the same type of game, I love having mlbtv on in the background even at home, because it isnt all action all the time. My dad and I have been going to spring training for years. its a blast even though I would like to punch him in the face most of the times, florida the beach and baseball is great. perfect sport for taking the ipad, I just wish cricket could get more popular in the states, very casual sport and long.

There is alot more than just hot dogs at most stadiums now. Sushi , beer and baseball :grabsome:.
Baseball is getting more of an Asian influence, now all we need is the beer girls like they have in Tokyo, maybe some geishas and hostess clubs or lounges for those long scoreless innings. I went to Yankee stadium this year, some pretty damn good sushi

Thanks sov. One thing I love about being America and in this time zone and gambling is getting up in the morning and having soccer on in the morning and then american football(college,pro)/basketball/baseball/etc to gamble on starting at noon or 1. When I was in Asia and Europe and trying to gamble, you really have to adjust, but I will say I really hate missing out on watching alot of the australian open. I wish more of the tennis season were in the states.

I saw that you watched that liverpool doc, have you seen this one from the real football factories. I found this on a ultra site. Talks about how the liverpool fans created the whole casual movement., Liverpool was so influential, they have to get back on top. This documentary has real 1980s retro feel, the "casuals", I see alot of izods and lacoste, in america they were called preppies but these lads were violent preppies. Danny dyer is kind of annoying to some people but this is a great doc.
