Been giving some thought today to what events should be removed from the Olympics and what should be added. Many thoughts actually.

For starters, here are the 2 that obviously totally should be removed due to not having anything to do to with anything.

Equestrian
Speed Walking

also lets get rid of this kayak thing. and tennis, fuck tennis.

Now see I have heard other people say that about tennis and I don't get it. It seems like a completely reasonable sport to me. It is very athletic. Unlike some Olympic sports like, say, women's ice hockey where there are really only 2 countries any good at it, tennis has players and a following on all corners of the globe. It is probably more widespread and popular than just about anything they got.

I'm hard-pressed to come up with a reason tennis is not an ideal Olympic sport.

Mostly cause it sucks. Doesn't feel like an Olympic type sport. I mean why not have golf?

I might kind of get what you mean about tennis. There is something to be said for sports where the Olympics is by far the biggest thing that people build towards. With tennis, there are 4 majors every year which most players (I suspect) would rather win than an Olympic gold medal.

Well I don't know for sure about that but I'm guessing so.

So you don't get that huge emotional payoff that the "amateur" sports can provide.

Golf, I would fully endorse. I wouldn't mind pool, with different events for 8-ball, 9-ball and snooker.

I realize pool is not exactly in keeping with the Olympic motto of Faster, Higher, Stronger - but neither are a bunch of things that are already there. I say if you're going to have gun shooting, have pool.

On the other hand, if you are going to have equestrian, might as well have auto racing.

(So let's just not have equestrian).
