Your parents were so "amazing" that you moved to the other side of the country? In my 10 years of practicing psychotherapy I have never encountered a patient who described there parents as amazing, only the ones who had something to hide. You know, the father who was cheating on the mother with his secretary or drank in order to deal with the misery he called family. I'm not saying no one has "amazing" parents but it is a very telling adjective.

I would be curious as to why you don't have an amazing relationship with your mother as well. Did you father hate your mother so much that he invested all his time in you?

Cali, you are young. Don't think so hard. Also maybe be more honest with yourself about what you want. When I read your posts, I still see that girl who evades what might make you happy because deep down you are afraid of happiness.

Nothing wrong with banging large schlong men with large bank accounts. Nothing wrong with cocaine fueled nights riding the Slim Jim with an American Express Black card carrying member.

You know what, I love my mom, and think she is a pretty awesome person, and did a good job raising us kids,
but she also pisses me off sometimes too.
But her and I are also very close, these days we are more like friends then mother and daughter.

I live on the other side of that coin. I meet women and when they discover that I am honest, supportive, tolerant, non-judgmental and will insist on treating them as an equal - i.e. when it sinks in that I am NICE - they want nothing to do with it. They want someone who will treat them crappier.

Come to think of it, maybe that's not the other side of the coin; maybe that's the exact same coin.

I dunno. Maybe they just want a challenge. Play hard to get next time.
