the biggest problems with the medical industry are the accountants and lawyers working within it and the insurance side, plus the joke that is the fda. i've got complete confidence in my doctors, my dentist and their assistants; i don't trust the scamming admins/lawyers/accountants/politicians.

those would be my thoughts.

Bay,

Firstly, I agree and tort reform is required to bring the medical complex in line with reality. But specifically with regard to lawyers, how do you separate the legitimate actors from the "scammers." Surely medical malpractice DOES exist and we can't just give doctors carte blanch when it comes to liability.

I guess we could yank the law license of anyone who ever advertised on a bus, train, or taxicab.

by character. the scammers have none. i don't care where/how anyone advertises their services, just care whether they are a shyster or not.

we also need to go back to the days of not allowing prescription medicine to be advertised, period. that has done far more harm than any single (non-corrupt) change to the system in my lifetime.

boner, not that long ago (125 years or so), 'snake oil salesmen' were routinely shot or strung up. same thing for thieves and mean drunks. punishment for malicious or intended malpractice should be wiping out that doctor's bank account and sending them to general population in some federal prison for a good 10+ years. make the deterrent more than just taking their license away and making the doctor's malpractice insurance company pay. in fact, get rid of malpractice insurance altogether, and force the state that certified the doctor to pay for any additional medical coverage (none of this 'pain and suffering' crap, put some of the onus on patients to check their doctors out thoroughly).

The drug industry is a joke, they don't want to cure anything, only control your symptoms and make big money. Having spent almost 20 years of my life installing medical equipment, x ray rooms, mri's, ct scanners, tomography rooms, I would never under chemo at all. I would rather die than do that. Any machine that needs to be incased in 2 foot thick high density concrete vault due to the radiation isn't coming near me.

WHile I think the vast majority of the doctors try to do the right thing, they get brainwashed by the drug companies and other marketing ploys rather than actually try and help you. They would rather put you on a pill and say there my job is done, rather than say your eating crap, need to exercise and do something for yourself.

Drug companies should not be private for-profit entities.

There should not be 7 admin jobs per hospital bed like there are in the States. Canadians complain about administrative bloat here, yet the ratio of admin jobs to beds is about 1 to 1.

From what I hear, HMO's are vastly filled with sleazy, useless people.

yes, that is a disgusting practice that makes me afraid of the tv. I'm trying to relax here, and they're trying to scare me with every disease known to man. :fuckyou:

Wow, I never realised until you posted this and I subsequently Googled it, that pharmaceutical advertising is actually banned here. I had completely forgotten companies do this in the US.

If you listen to the possible side effects of all the drugs they advertise here you will realize you have less symptoms if you actually don't take the damn drug.

guys like you and me will not have to deal with this

but for older fellas like Willie Bee and Bread

there has got to be a trade off, if you can't get a boner, would you be willing to take a pill that will allow you to do that

if you are trading off Possible side effects of head aches, digestion problems, reddened skin, ect
