One of my laptops is having a problem. Originally I thought it was a fan gone bad and over-heating causing it to shutdown when watching certain videos. The other day I watched YouTube for hours throughout the night and it never once shutdown but as soon as I tried viewing a different type of video stream it shutdown after only a couple of minutes.

I am speculating it has to do with formatting of the different video streams out there but does that even make sense?

Could well be a cooling issue. Default Youtube streams aren't particularly resource-intensive. I would try watching a Youtube video in standard 360 mode/resolution then bump it up to 720 or 1080 if available. If the laptop shuts down shortly afterwards, it's very likely that you have a dead/inefficient fan.

I assume that you've tried computer duster?

should be the first attempt at trouble shooting

YouTube runs fine and plays until I'm bored.
Posted videos on forums run fine and runs till I'm bored.
PornHub runs fine and runs till I'll finished.
Spankwire shuts down almost before the panties hit the floor.

Wal, this is what a computer duster looks like;

Just throw it in the trash and buy a new one.

I love these tech threads from Wally.

Coug's I have 3 laptops.

Brand new one stays at the office so I can GameLive during the day.
One of the older ones is in the shop getting de-virused.
The other on I just described.

Also have IPad but I leave that in the Tahoe for on-the-go surfing.
