anyone ever hear any sorta quotes, statements, reports on how he did?

was he gambling with a Vegas Beard? or local bookies?

Would you be scared to take Pete Rose's action on baseball when he was the manager and had all sorts of inside info on non reds stuff?

I get the feeling that he didn't win that much.....

for "non-math" cappers, what would it mean to you to find out that Rose was a lifetime Coinflipping break even or worse kinda baseball gambla?

See for me it comes down to did he ever bet against the Reds especially when he was managing them.

You bet on your team to win? I don't give a shit - it's your job to help them win and if anything you now have more motivation.

You bet on them to lose? Die. Violently. Or better yet in a funny way like Ted from Breaking Bad.

Steve, I don't think he ever bet against him.... this isn't a thread about do you hate Rose or think he is HOF worthy ect....

I am just trying to get more facts on how GOOD a baseball gambler, how BIG a baseball gambler on baseball Rose was....

and if you found out that a guy like him was a 50/50 type when he played non reds games...... do you really think any internet guy could out cap a guy like rose in his own sport?

not talking money management....

but how much of an edge should rose have had with all his knowledge and experience at an MLB level (almost 30 years) at that point...

what i'm saying is that he literally just bet them 162 games a year.....if that claim is true, he was the biggest HOMER ever... and I hope he had alot of different guys to put his bets in, as any local would just increase the reds juice for that particular guy that called in Rose's bets

but how did he do on other teams? did he even bother to gamble on other teams? did he just fade his closet rivals?

yeah I mentioned that even his runners would get the odds changed...

but from a fair line value

if he made non bets on an avg of 150 days for an avg of 4 bets a game for 4 years...

how do you think he would have faired on a hypothetical 2400 bets at 1k per bet?

i'm taking liberties to try to zone this discussion in, but no more liberties or assumptions than the other arguments are taking

Speaking of gambling with sport figures, I heard biefly on the radio last week that Art Schlichter was involved in another million dollar scam. I dont think he should go to jail, if you are dumb enough to give that guy money you deserve not to get it back.

There was a movie about it on hbo. He appeared to be a real sleaze. The worst kind of gambler. He didn't seem to be winning.

There is little reason to believe that any manager would be an above average gambler. Now if you made a good gambler manager he probably could use some info to his advantage. But this is far out of the scope of what I'd expect an average manager to be able to accomplish.

Yeah i'm pretty sure he is a degen in all forms of gambling... thats why he is always whoring himself out for autograph signings and appearances

if he were your next door neighbor, would you listen to his thoughts on the days games and games he was gambling on for 10-15 mins a day?
