Opening ceremonies are on Friday. Are you into it? Are you pomped?

I wouldn't say I am pomped exactly, but if history is any indicator I will end up right into that shit.

Like most everyone, I am interested in seeing how Usain Bolt does. The guy destroyed the field in Beijing. I wonder if he can do it again - but it's very rare for a sprinter to dominate for long periods like guys can in other sports. So we'll see.





Anyway, I've given it some thought and I've decided to root for Canada.

I love all the stories and people you learn about in the little sports, I AM pumped! My annual before back to school vacation starts this weekend as well. and for the first leg of it, i'll be at the beach in ocean isle but NOT able to swim with my broken hand cast...

so i'll be watching a ton of OLYMPICS!

I don't know about the opening ceremonies though. They always seem like a good idea in theory but then when I watch them it's always like, ehh, I should have known better.

Yeah I think I'm boned. I'm going to have to watch the opening ceremonies even though I know better.

Main reason: Danny Boyle is the creative director. Stupid reason really. I mean, I know it's not going to bear any resemblance to Trainspotting - I know that - but I still feel compelled to see what he comes up with.

Okay good - they are restarting the opening ceremonies on TV. I couldn't watch them in real time due to being at work etc. - and I didn't want to start in the middle.

(On an aside, one of the radio stations was covering it live during my drive home from work. How's that for a concept? Radio coverage of an Olympic opening ceremonies.)

But anyway, I didn't listen to that coverage because I am intending to watch it from the start which I can now do. So don't anybody tell me what happens and if they managed to get the torch lit.

I remember the 1984 olympics arcade game. The faster you hit the buttons the faster the athlete run. I sucked on that game.
