Forum procedures ??

Just wondering if, in the absence of PM's, there is an approved way to contact a poster remotely.

Like is it okay to just ask them for their e-mail in a thread?

Is it preferred that we go through a forum official such as Juror or Polaroid and ask them to pass along the e-mail assuming the other party approves?

I have seen different policies about this at different forums and I do not wish to be a trouble-making rowdy.

Mudcat, just ask somebody to meet you in GL Chat and get their personal info that way. There are PMs in chat so the information doesn't even need to be seen by everybody else who's chatting at the time. Come join me now and I'll give you my e-mail and digits so you can see how easy it is.

You can leave messages somehow on posters profiles though those may be public i dont know.
