once upon time the state of Goias was full of gold along the sierra. so the Paulistas from the state of Sao Paulo adjunct it, they pillage all the gold, they had the biggest state by population in brazil and the biggest city in the country. Rio was the capital and the enemy. Belo Horizonte was the jealous brother. Feeling all too powerfull the Paulistas declare war on brazil for their independence, if poor Uruguay was one why couldn't they be? They fronted the war with Goias gold and italian immigrants coming off the boats. They lost. Humiliated, giving Goias autonomy back.

They continued their feud with Rio and enjoyed a symbolic shift of power during the Getulio Vargas dictatorship. And it went on until one of the great pacifist mind, Juscelino Kubitschek ( o JK ) became president and planned and made the city of Brasilia leaving Rio and Sao Paulo without reason to fight. And where did he do the federal district? In land in the state of Goias.
